CUBOT X19 is a smartphone with a good appearance, as well as with decent equipment, especially on paper. Is this good equipment, however, considering the price not exceeding PLN 700? Find answers in our review of CUBOT X19.
CUBOT X19 on paper is an interesting offer from the lower price range. It has a battery with support for fast charging, a screen with an 18: 9 aspect ratio, a gradient casing, or a dual camera module. However, is it actually a device worth recommending? You will find out by reading my review of CUBOT X19 , which at GearBest we will buy for about $ 120 (~ 456 PLN), and with the rebate code GBLIVECUBOT even for 104.3 dollars, or less than 400 PLN.
Design: it is modern, but with some limitations
The rear panel is made of plastic and is in shades of green and blue. I must admit that it looks pretty good and can certainly please, as long as you prefer the gradient. However, it is very shiny and therefore susceptible to scratches and dirt . Fortunately, there is a smoky case in the sales kit. Its assumption will certainly protect the smartphone, but it also causes the gradient is less visible, moreover, the casing ceases to shine. So it has its advantages and disadvantages. However, there are more of these second ones. 🙂 Staying still at the back wall, I have to focus your attention on the placement of a circular biometric sensor . Without a doubt, it is in a good position, although it has been recessed too much into the casing, so the silver frame surrounding it is strongly perceptible. It is a bit unpleasant, because the manufacturer did not decide to sand it properly. The back is also an island reserved for two lenses, which protrudes slightly above the face, and below it there is an LED illuminating the LED. The smartphone has a unibody type construction, although quite badly fitted, so it can be easily opened using a nail or ankle. This in turn leads to a huge problem associated with the use of a smartphone during rainy days. Water may penetrate to it, which in turn will cause damage. I must admit that I already had many Chinese smartphones, but never for such poor fit . The front panel looks quite ordinary. The top and bottom frame have not been significantly slimmed out, as is currently the case with smartphones. However, they are far from the frames of the past. The arrangement of the elements on the housing is very traditional. There is a volume control bar and switch on the right side and a left sled with a hybrid SIM card slot . A 3.5mm mini-jack on the upper frame, and a multimedia speaker, a microphone and a USB type-C port on the bottom. In general, the Cubot X19 can be pleasing, it's good in the hand , and it's not overly heavy, though it's wide and a bit thick . I have little hope that only my test case easily sheds my clothes .
Battery with fast charging
Cubot X19 is a smartphone that has a 4,000 mAh battery with support for fast charging technology, using a 10-watt charger included in the sales kit (European plug). The energy reserve is enough for an average of one and a half days without recharging, which I think is correct. The less demanding user will not have a problem to extend the working time to two days. And this is a good result, especially since many phones are not able to achieve it. [wptab style = "4" title = "Normal use"] [slug test = "battery" order = "desc" selected = "22828" virtual = "pcmark-work-2" type = "single" product_id = "22828, 22766,22746,22728,22736,22716,2698,22822,22810,22794 "] [/ wptab] [wptab style =" 4 "title =" Games "] [test slug =" battery "order =" desc "selected = "22828" virtual = "battery-manhattan-3" type = "single" product_id = "22828,22766,2262766,22728,22736,22716,22698,22822,22810,22794"] [/ wptab] [wptab style = " 4 "title =" Loading time "] [test slug =" battery "virtual =" loading-ac "order =" asc "selected =" 22828 "type =" single "product_id =" 22828,22766,22746.22728,22736 , 22716,22698,22822,22810,22794 "] [/ wptab] [wptab_end] Unfortunately, some interesting energy saving scenarios have been missing in the settings. There are only standard solutions offered by the Android Oreo system. The total energy replenishment takes about 150 minutes . So you can see that fast charging does not work. However, if you do not have that much time, it's worth knowing that by leaving the phone under the charger you will recover 30% for 30 minutes. After one quarter, 16%.
18: 9 ratio and very high luminance are the biggest advantages of the screen
Cubot set the X19 on a display with an aspect ratio of 18: 9 , so it is clearly longer and narrower than the 16: 9 used less frequently. The IPS screen features FHD + resolution (2160 x 1080 pixels) and a 5.93 "diagonal, which gives us a bit of 407 pixels per inch. The displayed content is therefore sharp and individual pixels are not visible. It is worth mentioning technical support for five points of touch. [wptab style = "4" title = "AdobeRGB"] [test slug = "test-colors" order = "desc" selected = "22828" virtual = "color-adobergb" type = "single" product_id = "22828,22766 , 22746,22728,22736,22716,22698,22822,22810,22794 "] [/ wptab] [wptab style =" 4 "title =" sRGB "] [test slug =" test-colors "order =" desc "selected = "22828" virtual = "kolor-srgb" type = "single" product_id = "22828,22766,22646,22728,22736,22716,22698,22822,22810,22794"] [/ wptab] [wptab style = "4 "title =" Maximum brightness "] [slug test =" battery screen "virtual =" YESITANT TEST "order =" desc "selected =" 22828 "type =" single "product_id =" 22828,22766,22746.22728,22736, 22716,22698,22822,22810,22794 "] [/ wptab] [wptab_end] The screen has a brilliant backlight of 660 cd / m2, which means only one. With this smartphone you will be able to use on the most sunny days , as well as in extremely bright rooms. Cubot, however, forgot about a very important issue – minimal luminance is also important. As a result, this value is high – 24 cd / m2. This makes it very difficult to use the smartphone after dark, because the screen is very hard to see . I have not found a blue light filter in the software, and the only solution to increase the comfort of use and provide protection for our eyesight after dark is the inverted color mode. The color rendering in the AdobeRGB palette is 61.3%. Coverage of sRGB scale colors reaches 84.2%, and 64.9% in DCI P3. These values are therefore of a good standard, bearing in mind the price range.
The camera is mediocre
According to the current standards, the manufacturer has put on a set of two lenses on the rear panel . The main camera has 16MP, F / 2.0 light and PDAF rapid focus measurement, and the secondary camera has two million pixels. There is also HDR, but not automatic. Photographs taken in daytime conditions look good . The colors are a bit washed out, the detail is good and the tonal range is a bit too narrow. There are, however, photos that please the eye. If you intend to use this model for photography after dark it will be worse – the pictures are very poor and the camera has a problem with setting the appropriate focus point. Two (two-color) LEDs work well when photographing objects from close range. -> See full-resolution sample images The video material can be recorded in the maximum FHD resolution (1080p) , at 30 frames per second. Movies hold a similar level. The problem is broken autofocus. However, the sound is recorded at a good level. In this price class, however, it is hard to find a smartphone that offers better quality pictures as well as video content. The more so because the speech is about the model costing less than 500 zlotys. https://youtu.be/rgDOuZg9rm0 Selfie is dedicated 8MP camera . The photos from the webcam look good. I have no objections to detail or focus. However, it is affected by the distance from which we take the picture. I do not even have major reservations about color reproduction. The photo application is archaic and has no additional functions . However, we have access to the HDR or the Blur effect from the main screen. Shots taken with the Blur effect look exactly like the function has been called. So there is a sharpened piece of the object photographed, which is in a circle, and the rest is one big, blurred blur. Depending on the intensity of the blur (you can adjust the slider) and the "desire" of the camera we can get quite decent results.
Cubot X19 uses the SoT MediaTek helio P23 (eight ARM Cortex-A53 cores with 2.5GHz clock speed) with the ARI Mali-G71MP2 graphics chip. It works with 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of built-in memory is reserved for user data, of which around 56GB are available.A quick look at synthetic tests and it is already known that the components used are lower middle class and nothing more. MediaTek helio P23 is a competitor exclusively for Kirin 659 and Snapdragon 625, which is one of the most popular Qualcomm SoC for the mid-range segment. It is worth bearing in mind, however, that Snapdragon 625 is made in a newer lithographic process, thanks to which it is more energy efficient. Cubot coped well with system optimization . The smartphone decently copes with multitasking – switching between applications is smooth. Even more demanding items load up relatively fast, but this process simply takes a bit longer than for better smartphones. However, there is no tragedy – these few seconds do not make any difference. Dedicated graphics deal with average demanding games available in the Google store. Tekken, Asphalt 9, PUBG Mobile or Mortal Kombat X will be launched on the ARM Mali-G71MP2, although the decreases in graphics flow are visible. The smartphone works under the control of the pure Android system in version 8.1 Oreo with the level of security from October last year. Bearing in mind the fact that we are at the end of the first quarter, there should definitely be an update available for Android Pie, which the manufacturer promises on its website. It may even be the case, but my Cubot X19 is not going to install any upgrades available. Downloaded from February 19, 1.2GB, but China does not want to upgrade the software. Even the restoration to factory settings did not help. Unfortunately, the software has not been enriched with additional functions in any way , so I have nothing more to add in this section. We can therefore go to the communication facilities.
Communication facilities very average
The manufacturer focused on a typical, low-budget communication infrastructure with a modern addition in the form of a USB type C connector . The consumer receives a single-band wireless WiFi module 802.11 b / g / n, LTE modem category 7/13 (300 Mb / s and 150 Mb / s), hybrid card slot, Bluetooth 4.2, as well as GPS (with A-GPS). There is even an FM radio. The smartphone does not lose its range, the sound is loud enough and the microphones are very good at picking up the voice. I tested the equipment on the Orange and Plus network cards. The manufacturer offers the possibility of further expansion by using a hybrid card slot in the nanoSIM + microSD or nanoSIM + nanoSIM system . The type C USB port offers support for OTG, which makes it possible to connect external mass storage devices. The multimedia speaker is one. The quality of the sound emitted does not fall on your knees . The sound is very flat, and also a bit too quiet. However, you can hear the incoming call without much of a problem. He fulfills his basic task and nothing more than that. There is a biometric sensor on the back panel. The active fingerprint reader is precise and is very rarely mistaken , although it is a little too slow. Cubot X19 was also equipped with a function enabling unlocking by face recognition. This protection is free and has problems with proper recognition. It's just an addition, but not very functional.
Summary and evaluation
Taking into account only the price not exceeding PLN 500, I can easily recommend you the Cubot X19 smartphone, because it is difficult to find a better equipped model. It has a quite efficient SoC chip combined with the appropriate amount of RAM , as well as a well-optimized system. Thanks to this, you should not complain about everyday use of the device, especially since the smartphone decently handles multitasking. And, as you know, it's very different. You should definitely appreciate the fingerprint reader on the back panel. As I mentioned above, it is not true that it is the fastest, but it almost flawlessly recognizes previously defined fingerprints .Noteworthy is also a 18: 9 display with good parameters, including high luminance maximum, USB type C port, as well as a battery that allows up to two days to use Cubot X19 away from the charger. Unfortunately, the funds did not allow the producer to use a better camera, so that the pictures taken in the day are only correct, and those after dark are really bad. What disappointed me the most was the quality of the test model. For me it is a great thing that the new smartphone, which has recently left the factory, has slots so large that the unibody structure can be freely unfolded. Most likely, it is just a setback, but the taste remains for long. [Show_rating]
