Samsung has kept his word and released an update to Android Pie for Galaxy A9 (2018) in Poland! The new version of the system is sent via OTA to the first users. Meanwhile, the price of Galaxy A9 in the official distribution has clearly dropped, but is it worth buying?
Galaxy A9 gets Pie
Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) has finally been updated to Android Pie from One UI , of course in Poland. Samsung kept his word and there was no delay. The package bears the designation A920FXXU1BSC5 . In addition to the new system, the update brings security fixes dated February 2019 (it is a pity that it is not March). The new software is already available via the OTA channel, so it should be possible to download it from the settings of the phone at each user who bought the Galaxy A9 from the official Polish distribution on the free market (XEO). The copies from the operators will have to wait – maybe a few days, maybe a few weeks, depending on the particular network.
The new price of Galaxy A9
Speaking of Galaxy A9, I am in a hurry to report that Samsung has decided to lower its price. Now, authorized stores sell Galaxy A9 for PLN 1999 , which means a PLN 500 discount compared to the price valid a few days ago. Is it worth buying a Galaxy A9 at a new price? Honestly, I still have doubts about it. In the Galaxy A9 review I wrote:
If someone asked me if I would buy a Galaxy A9 at the current price, I would say no. This is not a bad smartphone, nay – in many aspects above average, but in my opinion should be cheaper.
As you can see, the price has dropped, but it is still too high for me. This is especially visible when you look at the Polish price of the Galaxy A50, which has a very similar specification and the fingerprint reader in the screen, and yet it costs 500 zlotys less. In this situation, I think that the Galaxy A9 will become a good choice only at a price of ~ 1500 zlotys .
