DxOMark checked the Galaxy S10 + camera. The note issued suggests that Samsung finally caught up with Huawei in terms of image quality, because Galaxy S10 + received the same rating as … the annual Huawei P20 Pro.
One of the biggest new products in the new Galaxy S10 smartphone is the triple camera , which has just been tested by DxOMark. What was the note received by the newest Korean flagship?
Galaxy S10 + caught up with Mate 20 Pro and P20 Pro from Huawei
At this point, let me remind you that the Samsung Galaxy S10 + has the following photographic resources:
- main camera 12 MP with variable diaphragm (f / 1.5-f / 2.4), OIS, AF, 1.4 μm pixels and 78º viewing angle,
- 16 MP wide-angle camera with f / 2.2 aperture, 1.0 μm pixels and 123º angle, but without OIS and AF,
- telephoto 12 MP with aperture f / 2.4, OIS, AF, 1.0 μm pixels and angle 45º.
DxOMark assessed the capabilities of the Galaxy S10 + camera for a total score of 109 points , thanks to which this model ranks first in the overall ranking . He is not alone there, however, because Huawei Mate 20 Pro and Huawei P20 Pro accompany him on the highest step of the podium. As for the pictures themselves, the Galaxy S10 + received 114 points – interestingly, the same number were also received by the flagship Huawei. Good balance of white and perfect color in most conditions, very low noise and great tonal range were appreciated, and the biggest criticism fell on noticeable deficiencies in detail. Meanwhile, the rating for the video is 97 points . Experts said that the strong point of movies recorded with the Galaxy S10 + is fast and accurate autofocus or effective stabilization, and the weakness was considered not very saturated colors in low light conditions and occasional problems with sharpness when registering the movement of objects.
Samsung won with Huawei in a selfie camera test
While the rating for the main camera is the same for the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, Huawei P20 Pro and Galaxy S10 +, in the case of the camera self-determined victory is the Koreans. The dual front camera on the Galaxy S10 + proved to be the best on the market with a score of 96 points clearly ahead of Pixel 3, which also has a dual self-starter camera. As you can see DxOMark thinks that the more, the better.
Is DxOMark right?
Honestly, I do not know what to think about evaluating the Galaxy S10 + camera , issued by DxOMark. Not because he is concerned about the evaluations of this institution, but by the inability to directly check the photographic possibilities of Samsung's flagship and confront it with Huawei's flagships. I hope that this will change in the near future, and I recommend treating DxOMark as a mere curiosity.
