The Samsung Galaxy S10 series has been seen in the media every day for the last few weeks, revealing every element of the specification and appearance, which brings about a lot of changes compared to its predecessors. So, it's time to look at the most relevant information that has reached the network over the past weeks.
When will the premiere of Galaxy S10?
The date and venue of the presentation were set for February 20 and the Unpacked conference in San Francisco, where all the details on Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 + will be revealed – three models of the tenth generation. The presale is to start exactly one day later, and the smartphone will go on sale on March 8 for regular sale . The network also has information on the availability of special premier versions of phones – Galaxy S10 + version 12 GB / 1 TB will enter the store shelves on March 15, while Galaxy S10 X with 5G connectivity is the prospect of March 29. We do not know, however, whether these versions will be widely available in Poland, and many points to the fact that they probably do not.
Samsung Galaxy S10e – specification
The Samsung Galaxy S10e will be the cheapest of all three models with a flagship specification, though slightly truncated technologies. It will also receive the smallest Infinity-O display with a flat shape, made in Super AMOLED technology and reaching a diagonal of 5.8-inch.In the upper right corner of the screen there will be a notch for a single 8MP selfie camera , while the matrix is devoid of essential technology – a built-in fingerprint reader that will appear in a traditional form on one of the side frames. Despite the lack of some top novelties, the smartphone will be powered by one of two impressive processors: eight-core Snapdragon 855 or original Exynos 9820. The second option will be added to the European market, supported additionally by 6 GB RAM and 128 GB of memory. At this point, it is worth recalling the shortened structure of the Exynos 9820 processor, which consists of two large Samsung cores, two Cortex-A75 units and four Cortex-A55 units. This team also includes the ARM Mali-G76 MP12 graphics chip, the NPU artificial intelligence coprocessor and the improved ISP image processing engine. The whole was made in the 8 nm process. The camera in Galaxy S10e will be dual and based on the configuration of 12 MP + 12 MP units known from Galaxy Note 9. The main eye will use the ISOCELL S5K2L3 i sensor it will have a variable aperture (f / 1.5-f / 2.4), while the second camera will act as a telephoto lens with the f / 2.4 aperture. On board there will be optical stabilization of the image for both cameras and double approximation without loss of quality, which in turn will translate into fantastic shots from distant plans. In addition, we can count on the brilliant quality of photos under all lighting conditions and solid recordings in 4K and Full HD at 60 or 30 frames / s. In addition, the Galaxy S10e will offer a battery with a capacity of 3000/3100 mAh , fast charging of 15 W, memory card slot, headphone connector and work with Android 9 Pie and the latest One UI overlay. All this will be enclosed in a waterproof housing with the IP68 certificate.
Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 + – specification
The two main smartphones of the tenth generation have a much longer common denominator, which includes not only the components responsible for performance, but also the camera.
Performance at the highest level
Both models will receive one of the processors we will meet in the Galaxy S10e, and the correct choice depends on the region in which they will be sold – European smartphones can again count on eight-core Exynos 9820 made in 8 nm lithography, which is classified slightly lower than Snapdragon 855 while there is certainly nothing to be ashamed about in terms of performance. The used chipset will support the Galaxy S10 two memory configurations: 6/128 GB or 8/512 GB, while the larger Galaxy S10 + will be able to count on three variants: 6/128 GB, 8/512 GB and 12 GB / 1 TB in the version with ceramic housing.
The optical background of both flagships includes a triple main camera in the following configuration:
- main camera 12 MP with variable diaphragm (f / 1.5-f / 2.4), OIS, AF, 1.4 μm pixels and 78º viewing angle,
- 16 MP wide-angle camera with f / 1.9 aperture, 1.0 μm pixels and 123º angle, but without OIS and AF,
- 13 MP telephoto lens with f / 2.4, OIS, AF, 1.0 μm pixel and 45 ° angle.
As for the selfie camera, in Galaxy S10 + it will be double and will appear in a combination of 10 MP + 8 MP, and in the basic Galaxy S10 will be one of the selected before the manufacturer's eyelets. With such a set of Galaxy S10 and S10 + they will be able to fight for the highest places in photographic sets, all thanks to the great symbiosis of wide-angle lenses and telephoto that together with the main camera will be prepared for all lighting conditions and photographs from each plan.
Displays with a round cut-out
The latest Samsung smartphones will see evolution in the shape of the housing. Galaxy S9 and S8 were characterized by a streamlined design and rounded sides, while in the tenth generation of the S series, the Korean designer focused on a style similar to the Galaxy Note series.Galaxy S10 and S10 + will receive a slightly more rectangular, sharp body and Inifnity-O displays that herald nothing more than round cutouts for selfies. The Galaxy S10 variant will receive a 6.1-inch screen, while the Galaxy S10 + will be able to boast a 6.4-inch span – in his case the "hole" will gain an elongated shape to fit the double lens. Displays of both variants will be curved, and inside them the manufacturer will use an ultrasonic fingerprint reader , which is to be much more efficient than the optical sensors that have been used by competitors so far.
Battery capacity and charging
Placing large batteries in smartphones is not the strongest part of Samsung, which certainly results from complexes from years ago and caution when experimenting with the expanded capacity cells. So, the Korean giant will decide to mount batteries inside the flagship with the following capacities:
- 3300/3400 mAh for Galaxy S10,
- 4000/4100 mAh for Galaxy S10 +.
These are quite standard values, but some mania with a smile on their lips would welcome several hundred milliamper hours more. As part of the compensation, Samsung intends to introduce an innovative 15 W charging, which, according to the initiators, is to completely revolutionize the energy replenishment of smartphones. The package will also include the option of wireless charging , including the recharging of other devices, which also support inductive battery replenishment.
