Next year's iPhones and those that will appear in 2020 will bring some of the changes that are being speculated right now. What should we expect from them?

The iPhone in 2019 will receive Face ID 2

Next year, Apple will again introduce three smartphones that will continue the company's current strategy. Analyst Ming Chi Kuo has recently released a new note for investors, in which he states that in 2019, a new generation of biometric security will appear on the iPhone's face. It is worth recalling here that Kuo has repeatedly presented valid information. Not all were precise, but as time passed and the premiere approached – it was always worth paying attention to his words. Face ID 2 in next year's iPhones will not surprise anyone at all. We've received similar speculations a few months ago when we learned that this year's models will receive the same TrueDepth camera modules that have an iPhone X. Work on the next generation is definitely underway, but it takes almost two years to improve this technology. We can boldly look into the future and say that next year we will see iPhones with a slightly smaller cut-out in the screen or with more sensors – minimization of modules should, after all, take place. However, as Apple uses more space under the hood of the device – it is not known. At the moment, it is said that Face ID 2 will bring even a porthole with increased power, which will be converted into better efficiency and performance of the protection. The main suppliers of subassemblies are to be IQE, Win Semi and Lumentum.

ToF first in the iPad, and only then in the iPhone?

Kuo also claims that in the fourth quarter of 2019 or in the first 2020, we should expect new iPads with the improved camera and Face ID 2. This is to receive the 3D modeling function. Time of Fly technology is to improve portrait mode in smartphones and tablets with the logo of a bitten apple. Interestingly, this feature would first appear in the iPad , and only later in the iPhone – in 2020.

The iPhone will handle 5G in two years

The first iPhone that would serve the 5G network will appear only in 2020. Apple is supposed to plan to implement an Intel 8161 modem on a smartphone that will only be available in two years. Currently, the 8060 version is being tested, which will appear in the prototype of an iPhone that supports the 5G network. Apple is supposed to be dissatisfied with Intel, which still could not solve the problem of excessive heat generation and battery consumption. If cooperation with Intel "does not burn out", the backup plan is to cooperate with MediaTek. Either way, it is not going to work with Qualcomm in this regard. Smartphones that support the 5G network will soon start appearing massively. However, the issue of the network itself remains problematic, the impact of which has not been well researched, and some of the tests carried out so far have demonstrated its numerous negative effects.
