In just a few days, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite will go on sale in Poland, and meanwhile I have already received a test copy of this model. Here is my initial opinion about the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite and at the same time a preview of the review.
Today, the Polish distributor of Xiaomi devices announced the launch of a new smartphone, which is a mid-model Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite model. It just happens that I got the phone for testing, but only two days ago, so it's too early to review. So I decided to prepare a short entry, in which I present the first impressions of using the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite .
First of all: the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite has a gradient housing
Times, when almost every smartphone was just black long gone. Housings in one color also started to get boring, because more and more producers decide on the gradient, i.e. a smooth transition of two or more colors. The variant Aurora Blue, made available to me for testing , is a combination of blue, purple and green , so it is really colorful and even pretty.Of course, Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite is a smartphone made of two sheets of glass that are connected by a metal frame . The whole is extremely shiny and very dirty. I warn you that the phone is very slippery and can slide off uneven surfaces, and pulling it out of your gloved pocket is a high-performance sport that you do not want to do.
Second: the power is strong in it
Xiaomi and weak components? This is a very rare phenomenon, especially in the Mi series. In the case of the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite, we get the Snapdragon 660 system, consisting of an octa-core processor based on Kryo 260 cores, clocked at a maximum of 2.2 GHz. Added to this are Adreno 512 graphics and 4 or 6 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of file memory. I received the 4GB / 64GB version for testing, i.e. the weaker version. Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite is a very fast hardware that does not have problems with satisfactorily smooth opening of applications or smooth switching between them. It's almost a flagship level , which is very enjoyable on a mid-range smartphone. Over the next few days I will check if the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite releases in any usage scenario. At the end of this section, AnTuTu, something for fans of numbers:
Thirdly: the camera gives advice, but does not do crazy
According to the current trends, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite received a dual camera . The main mesh is 12 MP, light f / 1.9 and 1.4μm pixels. It is a pity that there was no optical image stabilization. The additional lens has 5 MP and is used to collect depth information, without the option of a telephoto lens, while the selfie camera has as much as 24 MP. Unfortunately, I did not have the opportunity to make a decent photographic session with the help of Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite, but I managed to snap a few photos: I can say that for a medium Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite does quite good photos , similar qualitatively to those that Xiaomi Mi A2 does. From suspicious things I noticed only a very impressive tonal range and sporadic focusing problems, when the phone is not stable in the palm of your hand. The staff can then be moved, so as you can see the lack of OIS can be a sign. A big surprise met me in the video section. It turns out that Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite records Full HD movies at 60 fps, which are still not able to Xiaomi Mi 6 or Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S (ROM Global).
Notch is smaller but still annoying
As you've probably noticed, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite has a notch in the screen . Fortunately, it is smaller than that of Xiaomi Mi 8, but it is only a visual change, because it still blocks the display of notifications – to see them, we have to download it. Of course, the percentage of battery charge also needs to be forgotten. The masking of the notch is also not working. First of all, the black bar is not symmetrical with the chin, and secondly it reaches a few millimeters below the note level, which with the imperfect black IPS panel is very catchy and looks just poor. The Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite screen itself generally defends itself . It is true that the contrast could be better, but I have to praise the maximum brightness and a fairly natural reproduction of colors.
