In the latest combination of cameras and image quality made by smartphones, the iPhone Xs Max turned out to be worse than the Huawei P20 Pro. We check if this is bad news for fans of Apple or only slight differences.
To take a good quality photo, we no longer need to carry heavy SLRs and lenses with us, all we need is the benefits of the camera we carry in our pockets for most of the day. Of course, it's about smartphones that improve their optics every year and make more and more accurate photos. We know that photos for professional applications must have even better quality and require the use of thick-caliber equipment, but many amateur photographers need only the lens that every today's smartphone has. With this in mind, owners of the iPhone Xs Max can sleep peacefully?
iPhone Xs Max worse than P20 Pro
If they do not care about rankings, yes. iPhone Xs Max in the latest DxOmark platform ranks second and loses with the irreplaceable Huawei P20 Pro . The quality of photos and videos of Apple's largest smartphone was rated as great in a good light and appreciated for the number of details, but it was not enough to defeat the Chinese competitor. iPhone Xs Max delivers double images camera 12 MP + 12 MP we know from the previous iPhone X. The first mesh can boast of f / 1.8 and 1.4 pixels in size, while the other is a telephoto lens with f / 2.4. Both have optical image stabilization (OIS) and support for intelligent HDR mode. In the opinion of DxOmark, there are also examples of photos that compare the iPhone Xs Max with other models. I must admit that in some cases it is difficult to see any differences , and these are rather insignificant (click to enlarge) .
The results are almost identical
The biggest differences are in the details of night shots, where the Huawei P20 Pro performs much better – detects more details and can boast of better colors. In the other shots, in daylight, the results in both cases are brilliant and they do not cause any shame. Holders of one of the most expensive iPhones in history, however, may feel unsatisfied that the smartphone, for which they paid dearly, was not rated as the best photosmartphone on the market.
