The Counterpoint report for May informs that the iPhone 8 was the most-bought smartphone in the world during this period. The weakest of the latest iPhones has pierced not only Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 +, but also the iPhone X. Why is the iPhone 8 so popular?
iPhone 8? Boredom!
Apple's smartphones never made me particularly intrigued, but for some time I understood where their polarity comes from. A brand recognized around the world, some of them associated with prestige, the latest technological solutions, some kind of innovation, top quality, great performance and a unique and above all supported iOS system are features that have always been associated with iPhones. These are qualities that can be called advantages. It can not be concealed, however, that at some point Apple began to repeat, and the apogee of this phenomenon occurred at the launch of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus smartphones. Both of these models were just for me an iPhone X, which turned out to be the biggest refreshment in the Apple portfolio since 2014. Initially, it seemed that both versions of the iPhone 8 will quickly be forgotten. Meanwhile, the market showed how wrong I was …
The iPhone 8 is the most popular model in May 2018
According to the latest Counterpoint report, the most-bought smartphone in May this year turned out to be the iPhone 8 , which generated a share of 2.4%. That's right – the weakest of the latest iPhones turned out to be the most popular model in the world. He managed to overtake not only Galaxy S9 +, but also the jubilee iPhone X. To be honest, I do not know why customers have fallen in love with the iPhone 8 . This phone has only one camera, a modest-sized battery, a relatively small screen with low resolution and a kobylaste frame, which looks like a smartphone from 2014, i.e. … like an iPhone 6. I would sooner understand if its bigger brother was more popular, just like the Galaxy S9 + is more eagerly bought than the Galaxy S9. In this situation, I can see only one way out – iPhone 8 is popular, because it is the cheapest new iPhone , and thus it can buy the largest group of customers from around the world. Do you have another theory?
What does the rest of the rate look like?
As I mentioned, there are two iPhones and Galaxy S9 + on the podium of statistics. In further positions we have Xiaomi Redmi 5A, extremely popular in China and India, and then models of the iPhone 8 Plus and Samsung Galaxy S9. Only then comes the Huawei P20 Lite, with an individual share of 1.4% (the entire P20 series is 2.6% of global sales). At the end we have three proposals from Chinese giants, i.e. Vivo, Oppo and Xiaomi. In Poland, we'll only get a smartphone from the last of these manufacturers and it's Xiaomi Redmi Note 5.
