On the market, we already have several models of smartphones with a fingerprint reader in the screen. This year, at least a few new terminals will be introduced with this technology, and among them will also be a phone from Nokia.
Fingerprint scanners embedded under the surface of the screen are a very good idea. Implementation of such a solution is certainly more difficult than a regular reader, however, I am far from believing in the assurance of producers that it is only technical adversities that postpone the popularization of this solution. If you do not know what's going on, it's about money. Sinking the fingerprint reader under the surface of the screen is associated with additional costs of which, of course, the manufacturers do not want to experience. It is worth mentioning that smaller Chinese companies have been using new technology for some time now and have no major problem with implementing this solution. It is worth mentioning Vivo X20 Plus UD or Vivo X21. Xiaomi with the Mi 8 Explorer Edition has also joined this group. Why are the other players on the market still unable to deal with it? Will Apple again have to take over the baton and popularize this technology? Well, not necessarily.
Nokia enters the game
Last year, we heard rumors that Samsung was going to make a revolution in this field during the launch of the Galaxy S9. Unfortunately, it did not work out. The Galaxy Note 9 will also not be equipped with this technology. If not Samsung, maybe someone else? Well, the Chinese-Finnish Nokia plans to present in September the first smartphone with a fingerprint reader in the screen. The alleged model that would be equipped with this technology is well known to us from previous Nokia 9 leaks. If you believe in new information, HMD is working on a new model with the working name "A1 Plus" from February this year. This model would be equipped with a special LGED screen from LG , which is distinguished by a thinner layer of glass, thanks to which the use of a fingerprint reader is possible at all. Besides, the heart of the new smartphone will be well known to all of us Snapdragon 845, which drives almost all flagship models from 2018. Will this happen, we will find out soon. What do you think about fingerprint readers in the smartphone screen? Would you like the new technology to come to the mobile device market for good? Source: PhoneArena
