The new Nokia 8110 4G, presented at MWC 2018 in Barcelona, will soon be available for sale in Poland. The price of the refreshed version of the iconic "banana" from 1996 will unfortunately not be very attractive. Is nostalgia worth the amount for which we can buy a bearable smartphone?

Do you remember the movie Martix ? It hit the cinema screens at the end of the twentieth century and became a phenomenon that earned over 450 million dollars around the world. Not only stars such as Keanu Reeves, Hugo Weaving and Laurence Fishburne played in the production, but also the Nokia 8110 phone, called the "banana" due to the specific construction with a slide out flap.HMD Global concluded that the device should be refreshed, just as it was done with the even more recognizable Nokia 3310. This is how the new Nokia 8110 4G was created, also called the Nokia 8110 Reloaded, which we met at MWC 2018 in Barcelona. While the Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 1 smartphones presented there are already available for sale in Poland, we are still waiting for the Nokia 8110 4G. It seems that we will wait soon, because we have learned the Polish price of this device.
Nokia 8110 4G – price in Poland
Nokia 8110 4G should be available for sale in Poland within the next dozen or so days – I received a signal that no later than mid-July. Its price has been set at PLN 349 , which roughly corresponds to the amount that has to be paid for this device in the euro area countries. Honestly, I do not know if it will be worth buying the Nokia 8110 4G for this money. This is just a simple, simple phone with basic technical specifications. In the end, you just need to make just 50 zlotys to buy a quite livable smartphone, such as Xiaomi Redmi 4A , Motorola Moto E4 or Lenovo K5 Plus . This is only my opinion, of course. What does the Nokia 8110 4G offer?
For the record. The Nokia 8110 4G is equipped with a 2.4-inch color display with QVGA resolution (320×240), a 2-megapixel camera and a microSD card slot. The user files have 4 GB of built-in memory and the phone drives Snapdragon 205 with 512 MB of RAM. For Android, it's not enough, but Nokia works under the control of KaiOS , with loaded applications Facebook, Twitter, Snake or Google Maps. On board there were also: LTE cat modem. 4 , two slots for SIM cards, FM radio, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi b / g / n, 3.5mm jack connector and microUSB connector. Of course there is also a battery, in this case with a capacity of 1500 mAh which is to provide up to 17.7 days of standby time with two SIM cards and 4G communication. The whole was closed in a polycarbonate housing measuring 133.45 x 49.3 x 14.9 mm and weighing 117 grams, which is resistant to small splashes ( IP52 ).
