Huawei P20 and Huawei P20 Pro are very popular, which was reported by one of the company's heads. We have even met the approximate number of copies sold. As for Huawei is really good, but Samsung has nothing to fear – Galaxy S9 smartphones are selling even better. I do not even mention Apple and iPhones.
Huawei wants to become a smartphone market leader
Huawei is currently at the peak of the form, but still dreams about further sales increases, which will allow the company to overtake the leaders of the mobile market – Apple and Samsung. It is true that the manufacturer has already managed to achieve this in some markets, including Poland (but rather only for a while), so the Chinese are still losing to the largest competitors globally, especially when we take into account the sale of flagships. The Huawei P20 Pro and the Huawei P20 we tested are successful phones that are well-equipped and heavily promoted by Huawei (and operators). In addition, they are not overly expensive – of course, 3.5 thousand. P20 Pro is quite a lot, but the smartphone is clearly cheaper than Samsung Galaxy S9 + or iPhone X, that is its biggest market enemies. Was it enough for the sale of Huawei flagships to break the performance of Samsung and Apple?
6 million in less than 3 months is a good result, but …
Kevin Ho from Huawei told the Asian CES that his company has sold just over 6 million Huawei P20 smartphones around the world. These figures do not take into account the sales of the Huawei P20 Lite, so we're talking only about flagships. This result was achieved in about 2.5 months. By Huawei standards, the sale of Huawei P20 and Huawei P20 Pro is very good. Last year's flagship companies needed 4.5 months to achieve the same result, so progress is noticeable. The problem is that compared to the performance of the two largest competitors, this is a fairly average result. For comparison. For the first month of sales, Samsung has delivered around 8 million Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 + to global markets. The Koreans were not very happy with this result, although they also had no reason to complain too much. I remind you that the flagships of this brand were the most-bought phones in April this year. Meanwhile, Apple sold about 16 million pieces of the iPhone X in the first quarter of 2018, or half a year after the sale of this phone! Even more crushing for Huawei is that the iPhone X has found 6 million buyers … during Black Friday 2017 , which is the weekend from 24 to 26 November. I will say to Huawei that it would almost certainly be selling the Huawei P20 smartphones if the manufacturer could cooperate with American operators. Telecoms are responsible for the great part of Huawei devices sold, which can be seen, among others in Poland.
The power of Huawei is based on cheaper smartphones
Only good interest in Huawei flagships is evident proof that this company bases its power on medium and low-end phones . Yes, as the sales of the Huawei P8 Lite were driven by sales, now it is probably the Huawei P20 Lite, although we do not have any specific data on this. In addition, there are such models as Huawei P Smart, Huawei Mate 10 Lite and recently introduced to Poland phones from the Y series for 2018, and of course, Honor brand devices. Is this a problem for Huawei? It seems to me that from a purely technical point of view, rather not, however, it is also worth paying attention to the considerable ambition of this producer. There is nothing to cheat – almost everyone would prefer to base their sales on the most expensive phones in the portfolio. They testify to prestige and it is on them that they earn the most. Huawei has something to work on. Source: Huawei, own study
