Vivo officially showed Vivo NEX, a revolutionary smartphone with the most frameless screen on the market. It occurs in two variants, differing from each other components. The top model Ultimate is particularly interesting, equipped with in a fingerprint reader integrated with the screen. What are the prices of Vivo NEX?
Vivo NEX has an almost frameless screen
Let's start with the Vivo NEX screen, which makes the most impression. It is 6.59 inches, it was made in sAMOLED technology, it presents content in Full HD + resolution at 19.3: 9 aspect ratio and occupies a huge part of the front. The frames are narrow – the sides are 1.7 mm, the upper 2.16 mm and the lower ones 5.08 mm. According to the calculations, we are talking about a screen-to-body ratio at a record level of 86% , without using notes . I am talking about the real result, of course, because Vivo gives as much as 91%, which is not true. Some maniacs may feel slightly disappointed, because the Vivo APEX, or the prototype Vivo NEX, was an even more frameless device. I think it's good, and Vivo NEX is the best-looking frameless on the market . Somehow I do not expect Samsung or Apple to show an even better designed phone in the near future. To achieve such a front fill, the manufacturer had to apply some clever solutions. The main selfie camera is then pulled out from the top edge, and all sensors are moved to the screen as much as possible. This also applies to the fingerprint reader that has been integrated with the display . The touch surface has been extended by the entire Half-Screen Fingerprint Scanning, which seems to be a satisfactory and convenient solution. Vivo added that he has worked on this solution and now the scanner is faster and practically infallible. I will add that the screen reader has the flagship variant of Vivo NEX. His medium-sized brother offers a classic reader on the back panel.
Processor, RAM and memory
There is no surprise – the top variant of Vivo NEX, known as Ultimate , is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with the Adreno 630 graphics chip. It is a hellishly powerful unit, which in combination with 8 GB of RAM will provide good performance for years. The producer also added Dolby Surround audio support to improve the game's comfort (as well as Hi-Fi sound, which will satisfy music lovers). Vivo also installed a fast internal memory UFS 2.1 with a capacity of 128 or as much as 256 GB . What more can you expect in 2018? Meanwhile, the weaker version of the Vivo NEX got weaker SoC, though not weak. Snapdragon 710 is a combination of octa-core processor, in a rather unusual 2 + 6 configuration (Kryo 360 clocked up to 2 GHz) and the Adreno 616 graphics system. It will get 6 GB of RAM for collaboration. The whole allows you to dial around 175 thousand in AnTuTu points. Snapdragon 710 is actually a weaker version of Snapdragon 835.
As for the camera, according to the current trends, it is double. The main "eye" was based on the Sony IMX363 sensor with a resolution of 12 MP, with large pixels (1.4 μm), f / 1.8 light and optical image stabilization. It uses the Dual Pixel AF technology. Exactly the same unit can be found in Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S, Xiaomi Mi 8 or ASUS ZenFone 5. The additional camera has 5 MP and has a blur background. As I mentioned before, the 8 MP selfie camera can be pulled out from the top edge . Vivo ensures that the mechanism will not wear out for a long, long time, because it has to withstand an average of 50 thousand. activation. I do not do many self-portraits myself, so if I was a layman, I probably would not even find the camera;)
Vivo NEX – price and availability
The phones presented today will be available in China in the following variants and prices:
- Vivo NEX (Snapdragon 710) – 3989 yuan , ie about 2200 zlotys net,
- Vivo NEX Ultimate (Snapdragon 845, 128 GB) – 4498 yuan , ie approx. PLN 2545 net,
- Vivo NEX Ultimate (Snapdragon 845, 256 GB) – 4,998 yuan , ie approx. PLN 2830 net.
There is nothing to cheat – cheap is not, although it was difficult to count on. Vivo has never tried to be like OnePlus, so the manufacturer invests more in technology and, consequently, offers more expensive smartphones. It seems to me that Vivo NEX prices are still quite reasonable, but only in China. European taxes and intermediary margins would probably raise the price of the most expensive option to the amount of approx. PLN 4,000. Would you buy Vivo NEX for this money?
