I spent a month with Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus and I already know if it is worth buying in mid-2018. I compare it to Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 – the best smartphone up to 1000 PLN.
A few days after purchasing the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus, I shared my thoughts and gave some reasons why this is a better choice than the flagship (I used the Huawei P10 earlier for half a year). It's been a month now with the average from Xiaomi – do I still consider it to be such a successful device and at the same time the best smartphone up to 1000 PLN?
The best smartphone up to 1000 PLN?
No, not a hundred times. Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is no longer the best smartphone up to 1000 PLN – it is now the best smartphone up to 850 PLN . The reasons for this are two – firstly, he has already managed to stand a bit, and secondly, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro went to Poland. It has a more powerful processor, a much better (double) camera and is a little better made. It is a pity that in our country we will not officially buy the most powerful variant of 6 GB RAM.Do I regret that I hurried up and did not wait for the Polish debut of a stronger model? Again no, because I have repeatedly claimed that Snapdragon 625 is a processor that is completely sufficient for smooth operation in everyday use. I am in a hurry to report that I was right – there is no activity that would make my Snap 625 and 4 GB RAM make me irritated. However, if you think that you have higher requirements, it is definitely worth paying extra for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. Especially if you use your smartphone intensively as a camera.
A battery like a dream? Not completely…
Xiaomi in both models decided to use a cell of the same capacity. 4000 mAh on paper looks very impressive , but in practice even such a monster several times I managed to unload before the end of the day. However, I have no illusions – hardly anyone uses the smartphone in the way I do.If your everyday use includes a set of social media, browsing news on the internet, ringing and messengers , both models will give you peace of mind for 3 days . I know because I checked it. In this respect, it is hard for devices that for less than a thousand zlotys will provide such a long working time away from the socket.
Operating system and MIUI
I like the flat structure of the main desktop and the presence of a drawer with applications in new versions of the system, I consider a misunderstanding . Same as the Android function buttons. EMUI in Huawei P10 allowed me to live without these two annoying features of the system. But I must admit honestly that before switching to Xiaomi, I was most afraid of overlays . Completely groundless. First of all, the lack of a drawer with applications. Second, system gestures. Earlier, I used gestures on a fingerprint reader and found it convenient. I was wrong – the screen in MIUI is a hit. I do not remember when it was so convenient to use a smartphone. Death buttons! At this point, however, the advantage of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is drawn – immediately after taking it out of the box, it works on Android 8.1 Oreo. Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is still an older version of the software, and we do not know the exact date of the update. I do, however, have great hopes for it – especially with a refreshing of the MIUI 10 interface.
The camera is a big disappointment
As I have repeatedly emphasized, I do not use a smartphone to take pictures. There must be something amazing around me to pull out my smartphone and run a photo. That's why the average photo module in the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus does not bother me at all . I take pictures mainly during the day and for this purpose, in my opinion, it is enough with interest. It's bad at night. Pictures are washed out of colors, in the darker parts there is a lot of noise, and catching the focus takes a while. If you like to take a lot of photos, I suggest you pay extra for Redmi Note 5 – this is incomparably better.
Is it worth buying a Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus in mid-2018?
Yes, but only if you realize its limitations. Efficiency probably will not satisfy hardcore mobile players (are they?), Because not all games will start at the highest possible graphics settings. The quality of the housing is not top, and the plastic inserts spoil a bit of a general impression. https://www.gsmmaniak.pl/825342/xiaomi-redmi-5-plus-test-recenzja/ The biggest disadvantage is the camera, which at this price does not knock on your knees. For about 800 zlotys you will find more interesting models – even Nokia 6. However, if you just need a smartphone, which you will not quickly unload and browse a lot of internet during the day – Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus for 850 PLN is definitely worth recommending.
