Honor has been solved today by a sack with new products. The company belonging to Huawei presented the top model Honor Play (something like a smartphone for gamers), a medium-low model Honor 9i (2018) and proprietary Turbo GPU technology, which significantly improves the graphics performance of smartphones. Interestingly, it is also going to hit other Honor phones.
Honestly, I do not associate any information about today's premieres of the Honor brand. However, this is a pleasant surprise, because the company owned by Huawei showed not only a new model from the top shelf, but also another medium and original technology. It is from this last element that I will start this entry.
GPU Turbo – new Honora technology
Do you remember the days when Huawei / Honor's flagship smartphones were clearly losing their graphics performance with the biggest competitors? From year to year, the Chinese have improved more and they caught up with the leaders only at the end of last year, when they showed the series Mate 10 with SoC Kirin 970, which used the graphics Mali-G72MP12 . Now, Honor decided to overtake his rivals by developing proprietary technology that improves graphics performance.GPU Turbo is a solution that makes graphic layouts on Honor smartphones work efficiently and effectively, which has been achieved through acceleration. The manufacturer claims that thanks to this technology , graphics processing will improve by as much as 60% , energy demand will be reduced by 30%, and the graphics system will be able to provide constant and stable performance for a long time . The company suggests that the discussed solution will improve the GPU power in the mediums so that they will be able to compete even with some flagships. I will add that in the future GPU Turbo can also help in the processing of VR and AR content, and now supports the playback of HDR content. If someone thinks that Honor will reserve a Turbo GPU for flagships or new phones, then he is wrong. Work is under way to ensure that such models as Honor 10, Honor View 10, Honor 9 Lite and Honor 7X offer support for this technology. If everything goes as planned, these models will get a Turbo GPU in the form of a system upgrade, which will be made available in the next few weeks. Now the time has come to present the first Honora from the Turbo GPU.
Honor Play specification
Due to the used components and GPU Turbo technology, we can assume that the new Honor Play is something like a smartphone for gamers. It is true that it is not as lejrancely equipped as the ASUS ROG Phone, but if the Honorary assurance of a significant increase in GPU performance will be confirmed, the model from China will be equally good choice for fans of mobile gameplay. The heart of Honor Play is the Kirin 970 chip, which is a unit well known to us – we will find it in Huawei Mate 10 Pro or Huawei P20. SoC consists of an octa-core processor in a 4xCortex-A73 + 4xCortex-A53 configuration with clock speeds up to 2.4 GHz and a Mali-G72MP2 graphic layout. The whole is supported by 4 or 6 GB of RAM. To make the most pleasant music on the phone, the manufacturer equipped the Honor Play model with a 6.3-inch IPS screen with Full HD + (2340 x 1080) and 18: 9 aspect ratio. A characteristic notch is present in the upper part of the display. The Chinese also thought about the fact that Honor Play would operate as long as possible, so they installed a battery with a good capacity of 3750 mAh on the smartphone, adding a quick charge. For photos taken with a dual main camera (16 MP + 2 MP) and a 16-megapixel selfie camera (all using artificial intelligence), the producer has allocated 64 GB of memory, with the possibility of expanding it through a memory card with a capacity of up to 256 GB. The rest of the Honora Play specification for inspection in the table.
