Which smartphone is better to buy: ARCHOS Diamond Omega or OnePlus 5T? Both are from a high price shelf and have a lot to offer. I compare two interesting phones and tell you which one to choose.
Recently I published the test ARCHOS Diamond Omega, and therefore one of the best smartphones in the offer of a French manufacturer, which can now be bought from just PLN 2,100. After all, this model is a cheaper competitor for the OnePlus 5T. Does this mean it is automatically an inferior device? I will try to answer this question in this comparison of ARCHOS Diamond Omega and OnePlus 5T phones . I will check which model is worth your money.
Housing and appearance: glass vs metal
In terms of design ARCHOS Diamond Omega and OnePlus 5T is a completely different school. In the case of the first manufacturer put on glass, while in the case of the improved OnePlus 5 we deal with metal. Both of these devices are, however, very well made , and the fitting of individual elements does not raise any objections. ARCHOS Diamond Omega positively surprises the front panel, which has been covered with rounded glass on each side, and additionally rounded corners . All this makes the phone look with great pleasure. The more so that the side frames surrounding the display in this construction do not occur, and the upper and lower frames are slender, respectively. OnePlus decided not to experiment with the construction, so in the case of 5T we are dealing with a housing made of a combination of metal with 2.5D glass. The latter is of course Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Anodized aluminum has been covered with a very pleasant to touch paint, thanks to which the equipment holds great in the hand. The coating also looks great – the finish is dull and the fingerprints are almost invisible. In this respect, the OnePlus 5T falls a lot better than its competitor , who is even a collector of dirt. If we take into account the dimensions, and therefore the comfort of use, I used the ARCHOS Diamond Omega more conveniently , because the smartphone is simply smaller, although in both cases I did not have much trouble with reaching the upper edge of the screen with my thumb. The arrangement of elements on the edges is almost identical, and the addition (does not consider this as an added value) in the case of the OnePlus 5T is a profile switch. It allows you to quickly switch between the general profile, quiet and do not disturb . It is a nice addition, although the use of the slider in my case has not worked – it's too high for me and it's a bit hard to move. If, however, I had to be guided only by the appearance when buying one of two smartphones, I would ultimately bet on the OnePlus 5T, because it appeals to me more. First of all, it gives the impression of being more solid, it is less susceptible to scratches , and it is bigger.
Battery: good times in both models
In battery tests and during everyday use, both smartphones present above average work time on a single charge cycle – this is due to the use of 3300 mAh batteries in the OnePlus 5T and 3100 mAh in ARCHOS Diamond Omega . However, the OnePlus 5T falls better , because with moderate energy it is enough for up to two days of work. In the case of the battery present in the Diamond Omega model, we can count on the use of a smartphone for up to 1.5 days. [wptab style = "4" title = "Normal use"] [test slug = "battery" order = "desc" selected = "22516,22604" virtual = "pcmark-work-2" type = "single" product_id = " 22516,22604 "] [/ wptab] [wptab style =" 4 "title =" Games "] [test slug =" battery "order =" desc "selected =" 22516,22604 "virtual =" battery-manhattan-3 " type = "single" product_id = "22516,22604"] [/ wptab] [wptab style = "4" title = "Loading time"] [test slug = "battery" virtual = "loading-ac" order = "asc" selected = "22516,22604" type = "single" product_id = "22516,22604"] [/ wptab] [wptab_end] Of course, the working time is also affected by the brightness setting of the backlight, or the type of connection used – LTE or WiFi. In the case of the latter, the times on the screen are slightly better. Recharging the battery during the day in the OnePlus 5T is incredibly fast – you only need 30 minutes to charge the battery from zero to 60%, and leaving the OP 5T under the charger for 15 minutes also gives us a pretty good result – 30%. It takes about 80 minutes to complete the energy supply. The cell in the ARCHOS Diamond Omega also charges in about 80 minutes and is therefore very well in both cases.
Display: LTPS vs Full Optic AMOLED
In the case of the used displays, there is a large difference between the compared models, and this is because they have different diagonals, different proportions, as well as manufacturing technologies. They even differ in resolution – look at the following table:
|ARCHOS Diamond Omega||OnePlus 5T|
|Diagonal||5.73 "||6.01 "|
|Proportions||17: 9||18: 9|
|Resolution||Full HD + (2040 x 1080 pixels)||Full HD + (2160 x 1080 pixels)|
|Technology||LTPS||Full Optic AMOLED|
|Accessories||active frames||Ambient Display|
The Full Optic AMOLED display in the OnePlus 5T offers deep blacks and infinite contrasts, which in turn translates into amazing and lush colors. The color rendering in the AdobeRGB palette is 95.8%, and in DCI-P3 99%. It is therefore much better than in the case of ARCHOS Diamond Omega , which when measured with the same calibrator, obtained the color reproduction in the AdobeRGB palette at the level of 76%. [wptab style = "4" title = "AdobeRGB"] [test slug = "test-colors" order = "desc" selected = "22516,22604" virtual = "kolor-adobergb" type = "single" product_id = "22516 , 22604 "] [/ wptab] [wptab style =" 4 "title =" sRGB "] [test slug =" test-colors "order =" desc "selected =" 22516,22604 "virtual =" kolor-srgb "type = "single" product_id = "22516,22604"] [/ wptab] [wptab style = "4" title = "Maximum brightness"] [test slug = "battery screen" virtual = "TEST_INTERNESS" order = "desc" selected = "22516,22604" type = "single" product_id = "22516,22604"] [/ wptab] [wptab style = "4" title = "Minimum brightness"] [test slug = "screen-battery" virtual = "TEST_JASNOSC_AKU_MIN "order =" asc "selected =" 22516,22604 "type =" single "product_id =" 22516,22604 "] [/ wptab] [wptab_end] One of the most important functions of the screen in ARCHOS Diamond Omega are the gestures we make on side frames screen . This is possible thanks to FiT 2.0 (Frame Interaction Technology) technology. The strong point of the OP 5T screen is Ambient Display – it displays notifications on a blanked screen, so it's something similar to Always on Display from Samsung. In addition, it is worth mentioning the reading mode, which the color screen changes in monochrome to increase the reading comfort. We can independently define in which applications this mode is to be activated. A great thing. If I had to choose between these models only on the basis of screen parameters, I would put on the OnePlus 5T , because it offers more functional solutions, and it was made in OLED technology, which I prefer.
Both cameras are great
On the rear panel of both models we find a double set of lenses , although they work in completely different modes and have been combined in other configurations.
|ARCHOS Diamond Omega||OnePlus 5T|
|The main camera||12MP, F / 1.8||16MP, F / 1.7|
|Additional camera||23MP, F / 2.0||20MP, F / 1.7|
An additional lens in the OnePlus 5T has not been implemented to allow you to take pictures with a wider angle or with a fabulous bokeh effect, it is the case in the ARCHOS Diamond Omega. His task is very simple and basically one thing – he has to guarantee good photos after dark , because he works with the main camera then. If I had to indicate the superiority of one of the compared models, only on the basis of photos taken under optimal lighting conditions, then I would not be able to do so. Simply photos taken with these smartphones look great . They are characterized by a very large amount of details as well as vivid colors. You can not have reservations in the tonal range and the machine's operation, which selects parameters well for the prevailing conditions.

>>> View full size example photos More noticeable differences can be noticed only in the night scenes, when the lens gets less light. At the same time, the OnePlus 5T falls slightly, but still better. Photographs are less noisy. The difference is, however, in my opinion very small and basically on the margin of error, which is why in general I think that both smartphones will work very well, and the difference lies in the additions. Add-ons that were lacking in the OnePlus 5T. ARCHOS Diamond Omega has, however, to offer the best set for portrait photography . However, you must know that the distance to the subject can not be more than 200 centimeters.

On the example video materials, however, you can get something that gives the OP 5T advantage over the rival, namely Diamond Omega sharpens the objects in the foreground on two occasions. In addition, it fares worse at maximum digital zoom. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhM2MRf7oes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-jAo4c9tXc
High level performance
In the case of ARCHOS Diamond Omega and OnePlus 5T, the most efficient components were available that were available on the market at the time of release (autumn 2017). That's why one of the best Qualcomm SoCs, and therefore Snapdragon 835 (8 x Kryo 280 + Adreno 540) working with an above-average amount of RAM, which in the first one is 8GB (type LPDDR4), is responsible for performance. The OnePlus 5T I tested had a 6-gigabyte RAM of the same type. During everyday use, both devices perform similarly – they open applications quickly enough and offer smooth operation on two applications at the same time. However, the speed of loading games is slightly faster in ARCHOS Diamond Omega. On the other hand, the OnePlus 5T offers smoother operation of the interface itself and this is noticeable. However, an additional 2GB RAM with respect to the OnePlus 5T makes itself felt, as the ARCHOS Diamond Omega keeps processes in mind longer . [wptab style = "4" title = "PC Mark"] [test slug = "pcmark-android" order = "desc" selected = "22516,22604" virtual = "pcmark-android-work" type = "single" product_id = "22516,22604"] [/ wptab] [wptab style = "4" title = "T-Rex"] [test slug = "gfxbench-fps" order = "desc" selected = "22516,22604" type = " single "virtual =" t-rex-3-onscreen "product_id =" 22516,22604 "] [/ wptab] [wptab style =" 4 "title =" Manhattan "] [test slug =" gfxbench-fps "order =" desc "selected =" 22516,22604 "type =" single "virtual =" manhattan-3-onscreen "product_id =" 22516,22604 "] [/ wptab] [wptab_end] As for the interface, it's definitely more transparent, and At the same time, the one present in OnePlus 5T is thought over. There is a lot of chaos in the Nubia software . For example, the management of RAM and internal memory for data and applications has been moved to other system settings. There are still a few such idiosyncrasies.
ARCHOS Diamond Omega or OnePlus 5T?
We have come to the point where one should answer the basic question – which smartphone should I choose – ARCHOS Diamond Omega or OnePlus 5T? I choose OnePlus 5T , but I do not hide that it was primarily design, as well as more refined software with useful additions. The biggest advantage of OnePlus 5T is the work culture, which is phenomenal – the smartphone instantly switches between applications that are very long in memory. The real maniaK will also be appreciated by the Full Optic AMOLED display with Ambient Display technology, a metal structure made perfectly, a profile switcher, extensive communication facilities (including NFC), or an above-average battery with very fast charging. I also appreciate the Face Unlock feature in this model, which is brilliant and reliable. This security is so fast that you will not even have the opportunity to see notifications on the lock screen. ARCHOS Diamond Omega also has several strengths – the main camera, which copes well with portrait photographs, and is able to keep photographs full of detail. Noteworthy is also the display, which despite the fact that it is not an OLED, but it offers great color. Added to this are quite non-standard proportions, no side frames and active edges. The biggest disadvantage of this device, however, is the interface proposed by the Nubia brand – it is simply unfinished, and there is a lot of mess in it.
