European customers are buying less and less smartphones, but such companies as Huawei and Xiaomi do not bother, because they grow like yeast. Telephone telephones with screens 18: 9 can boast of a similar increase in popularity.
Information from the fourth quarter of 2017 showing the condition of the smartphone industry has probably shocked many a person, and above all – the leaders of technology concerns. The sale of mobile equipment slowed down – compared to the fourth quarter of 2016, customers were given 6.3% less copies. The declines were also confirmed in the first quarter of the current year, compared to 3 percent fewer smartphones compared to the same period last year. There are many indications that we have just learned which region of the world is responsible for the significant contribution to the decrease in sales of these devices.
Europe brake the smartphone market
To the surprise of many, it was Europe that significantly slowed down expenses for new smartphones – their sales in year-on-year terms with data for the first quarter of 2018 fell by 6.3%. What's even more interesting is the fact that the poor performance of the whole continent is mainly due to the western part of Europe – during the year, the sale of smartphones decreased by 13.6% to 30.1 million units. The largest and richest markets are responsible for such a result – Germany recorded a 16.7% decrease, France by 23.2%, and the United Kingdom by 26.2%. On the other hand, the region of central and eastern Europe is completely opposite – it is clear that we are dealing with an area still insatiable with new technologies, because in this case we can speak of a double-digit, 12.3% increase in sales in the first quarter of 2018 15.9 million pieces. Of course Russia is the growth leader – 25.4% more smartphones were sold there.
Samsung leader, but loses – Xiaomi went crazy
Samsung is the sales leader when it comes to sales – at the same time, it is the leader of declines, because despite the sale of 15.2 million smartphones, it dropped by 15.4%. The second is Apple, but the amazing results when it comes to gains are twisted by two Chinese producers. The podium closes Huawei, which in comparison to the first quarter of 2017 grew by 38.6%, but that's nothing when Xiaomi is reached. This Chinese phenomenon has done a lot of work during the year, which confirms the increase of over – attention, attention! – 1000% . Amazing, simply amazing. At this rate, 5.3% of current market shares will be doubled or even tripled very quickly. Completely deserved.
Screens 18: 9 on top
It is worth taking a look at the various trends that the analytical company Canalys specified. Attention is drawn to the fact that one of the most popular trends of recent months is undoubtedly the creation of smartphones with a screen format of 18: 9 . In the first quarter of 2017, no such smartphone was sold in Europe, and a year later – as many as 7.3 million copies in just three months. The share of smartphones using the DualSIM module also increased – they gained 8% year-on-year.We are also much more likely to buy equipment equipped with more than 4 GB of RAM – the sale of such devices increased by 82.7%, while the share of devices using less than 4 GB of RAM fell by 19.6%. An interesting fact is that as many as 155% more buyers than last year found equipment with two or three cameras at the rear. Generally, therefore, the tastes of Europeans coincide with the tastes of most continents around the world and show that we are after all aiming at equipment that is really many and offering the right performance.
The wealthier European is changing less often
And that really explains so much declines in Western Europe – citizens of richer countries just invest in more expensive flagship equipment that they do not necessarily exchange after one year of use. Eastern Europe in turn drives the branch of cheaper equipment, which explains the general disposition of Xiaomi – with time and much more popularization there will be flagship devices, because – which can not be argued – these countries are constantly getting rich, and the economic and technological development of the Eastern bloc countries and the central part of the Old Continent is an undisputed matter. And, with such statistics, it is difficult to complete this entry with something other than the phrase #xiaomilepsze . source: Canalys
