Branded smartphone (coming from the operator's offer) is unfortunately a big problem with software updates. The best example of this is the Samsung Galaxy S8 + from Orange, which has just now received Android 8.0 Oreo.
Orange Polska took pity on the users of last year's Samsung flagship – Galaxy S8 + and provided an update of the firmware for Android 8.0 Oreo with the Samsung Experience 9 interface.
Two months slip
Samsung Galaxy S8 + (XEO version) received the update of the firmware for Android 8.0 Oreo in February this year, more precisely the twelfth day of the mentioned month. So it took a lot of time and many users probably already had time to forget what the previous interface looked like. Meanwhile, until today, there were those who still expected the latest interface of Koreans, which debuted along with Galaxy S9 +. https://www.gsmmaniak.pl/807132/samsung-galaxy-s8-android-ore-aktualacja/ Speech about the people who bought last year's flagship along with the operator's offer in the Orange Polska network. The operator delayed the release of the software for a very long time . In total, it is not clear where such a decision comes from, but it is not the first time that the orange show a great sluggishness and put a lot of patience to their clients. A similar situation took place in the case of LG G3, which received Android 6.0 Marshmallow three months after information about the release of the software for the model from free sale. Fortunately, owners of the Samsung Galaxy S8 + coming from Orange Polska from today (13/04/2018) can download the mentioned update . Of course, it was made available via the wireless OTA channel and weighs just over 1GB (1060.20 MB). Therefore, before starting the download process, it is worth activating the connection to the WiFi network for faster downloading, as well as minimizing the costs resulting from the packet data transmission.
What's new in the software?
The list of introduced changes in Android 8.0 Oreo with the Samsung Experience 9 interface is very long and seems to have no end . 🙂 In most cases, these are cosmetic changes. Of the more interesting, it is worth mentioning here the improvement of the biometric security function, the improved Always on Display, which has been given even more possibilities of personalization by adding new clock and background styles. The screen at the edge improved, which now has more expressive fonts, as well as some new features. Improved keyboard, which has been enriched with a toolbar that allows quick access to useful functions – GIF, or emoji. Important new features resulting from the presence of Android 8.0 Oreo are: the context menu of the application, which activates when you hold your finger longer on the icon; and a floating window with Google maps. Below are screenshots containing a complete list of changes .
