Apple can surprise us yet. The company is to have a secret factory of new displays. We know quite a lot about them.
It seems that Apple can still surprise us well. At least this is the result of the latest leaks. The Cupertino company is supposedly not only to design, but also to produce its own microLED screens.
What is microLED?
MicroLED is the future that Apple believes in right now. In contrast to traditional LEDs, microLEDs are distinguished by higher contrast, better energy savings and responsiveness. This technology allows you to create a screen 30 times brighter than OLED. In addition, the miroLED display will last longer than the traditional solution. It is also worth mentioning that the microLED panels are much thinner and more resistant to burnout. This is obviously not all the pluses, because with the mass production of such displays is also referred to a lower cost.
Apple will be the first company producing microLED?
Currently, no enterprise in the world produces mass microLED displays. Unless … we believe in the reports of Marek Gurman from Bloomberg, which can drastically change our perspective. According to his report, there is a small factory in the American town of Santa Clara, in which the company is already producing part of the microLED panels. For now only for testing purposes. The project is to be hidden under the code name T159 and run by Lynn Youngs. It helped once to create a touch screen for the first iPhones and iPads. Apple has not been interested in this solution since today and it seems that it believes in its success. Perhaps the company itself will be the first company to produce microLED panels on a mass scale. Gurman, however, is of a different opinion – Apple is to initially commission such an action to selected partners.
Apple Watch will be the first device from microLED
We do not know yet which series of smartwatches Apple will receive a microLED panel, although this is already well-established . When the tests are completed – Apple Watch will be the first device with a microLED panel that will hit the market. Probably later, the technology will go to the iPhone. When will it happen? Not sooner than in a few good years.
This is just a challenge before which others get off
Apple is gradually doing something that every manufacturer can envy. First of all, because in the past this option has worked and has been bringing positive results to this day. Secondly because it has the possibilities and the final result will always be positive. I mean cutting off from other producers. Apple creates its own software, its own equipment and has been adding more components to its flagship devices for several years. For now, it is not visible that something on this issue would change. Rather, no producer is currently able to get close to what the Cupertino company is doing. Source: Bloomberg , own study
