I tested TP-Link Neffos C7 and now I know if it's the best smartphone you can buy for 500 zlotys. You will learn all the advantages and disadvantages of the phone by reading my review. I will also answer the question whether it is worth buying it in 2018.
TP-Link Neffos C7 is a smartphone for less demanding users. It looks interesting on paper, and it does not cost much. Is it worth buying? This you will find out from reading my review of TP-Link Neffos C7 . Let's start with the price of the device. The smartphone costs PLN 499 in official distribution. This means that it competes not only with the Xiaomi Redmi 5A, but also with the previous models of the manufacturer, such as the TP-Link Neffos X1 Max. We have already tested the latter in gsmManiaKa, so it will be a good reference point in this review – currently you will buy it for 660 PLN .

Nice, although made of plastic
The first impressions of using the phone are positive. Gray plastic seems solid, does not touch, and the smartphone fits comfortably in the hand thanks to the curved edges. It also deserves a weight that is only 157 grams. The 2.5D glass covering the screen is pleasantly rounded, allowing the finger to slide freely. The housing has been quite well fitted, although there are some shortcomings. Under the fingerprint reader, the material is clearly bending and I noticed looseness in the place next to the charging connector. Remembering, however, that I am dealing with a device for 500 zlotys, I am able to turn a blind eye to it. I was disappointed with the embedding of the volume and power buttons. They were set loose enough to feel it practically every time you press. I do not exclude, however, that this is only a defect of the test copy. Before buying, however, I would recommend paying attention especially to this element. There is space for the microUSB charge connector at the bottom. USB-C would be appreciated, but in this price shelf you can still go over it on the agenda. The 3.5 mm jack connector is included in the set at the top, which will definitely please a lot of users.
Two days of battery life if you save energy
Considering the basic components, the 3060 mAh cell and the HD screen, I was expecting a good working time away from the socket. In practice, I managed to get one day of normal use , with synchronization enabled and active WiFi and LTE modules (SoT at around 4 hours). Similar conclusions can also be drawn from synthetic tests. With economical use, it is possible to draw two days on one charge. However, the charging time is disappointing – almost 2 hours at this capacity is not the best result. On the other hand, you can not count on fast charging on your smartphone for about 500 PLN. Large screen with HD resolution
If it were to indicate the biggest advantage of TP-Link Neffos C7, it would be a screen, although HD resolution will not appeal to everyone. The display, however, was covered with 2.5D glass, which looks impressive and positively influences the experience of using the phone. The color mapping is 73% of the sRGB scale. The colors are subdued and the IPS matrix guarantees wide viewing angles. [wptab style = "4" title = "Maximum brightness"] [test slug = "screen-battery" virtual = "TEST_JASE_PASS" order = "desc" selected = "22568" type = "single" product_id = "22568,22562, 22464,22468,22500,22476,22482,22550,22374 "] [/ wptab] [wptab style =" 4 "title =" Minimum brightness "] [test slug =" screen-battery "virtual =" TEST_JASNOSC_AKU_MIN "order =" asc "selected =" 22568 "type =" single "product_id =" 22568,22562,22464,22468,22500,22476,22482,22550,22374 "] [/ wptab] [wptab_end] The backlight scale is great . The minimum brightness (3 cd / m2) allows comfortable reading in total darkness (there is also a dedicated reading mode at night), and the maximum (524 cd / m2) guarantees good readability even in very bright sun. I have not found the MiraVision function that would allow you to customize the color profile to your liking. The sensor of light also behaved oddly – I had the impression that it rarely adjusts the brightness to the prevailing conditions. When I decided to do it manually, the brightness after a short time returned to a certain value, different from the set one. Perhaps this error will be eliminated with upcoming updates.
Camera: good in the day, bad at night
Let's get to the pictures. Buying a phone for PLN 500 you can not have excessive requirements. However, I must admit that I did not disappoint. During the day you can easily take a nice picture , with a good amount of detail and a wide range of colors. I liked the camera app for my liking. It is very simple and intuitive, and allows HDR to be turned on in automatic mode. Unfortunately, it has to be repeated every time we turn on the camera. The matrix has a resolution of 13 megapixels and light f / 2.0. Link to full-resolution photos —-> The less light there is, the more visible the effects are . It's not even about photos in the evening, when the effect is full of grain and x-rays, but even for photos in the rooms. This applies to both cameras. Forget about blurring the background with the bokeh effect – such a result is possible to obtain in very specific conditions, which can be seen in the picture below. Regarding video, the Neffosa C7 mainframe handles full HD resolution at 30 frames per second. However, the lack of image stabilization makes it very difficult to record anything if you are moving while filming. The focusing is also poor. You can see the effects on the following video sampler: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPql87aOlqE TP-Link advertises Neffosa C7 with the slogan "better selfie". So I did not fail to thoroughly check how much truth there is. Conclusions? During the day it is correct, but indoors and after dark the 8 megapixel matrix (f / 2.2) is not doing well. The colors are washed and the focus is too slow. Making a sharp photo is not so easy. As a result, the photo capabilities of the phone I consider rather average for this price shelf.
Performance positively surprises
TP-Link Neffos C7 works on the Octa-core MediaTeka processor. This is MT6750 with a maximum clock speed of 1.5 GHz. The set is supplemented by 2 GB of RAM memory. Such specification promised at least smooth operation in everyday use and I must admit that I was positively surprised by the speed of the device's operation .Apart from a few exceptions (for example switching to the symbols tab on the keyboard – he often jams at this action) Neffos is responsive and does not happen to hang. When it comes to managing RAM, you have to write for it that two applications are all that the device can digest at the same time. [wptab style = "4" title = "GeekBench Multi"] [test slug = "geekbench-4" order = "desc" selected = "22568" virtual = "geekbench-4-Multi-Core" type = "single" product_id = "22568,22214,22154,22002,21966,21968,21630,21772,21752,21844,22228,22260,22062,22288,22352,22372"] [/ wptab] [wptab style = "4" title = "PC Mark "] [test slug =" pcmark-android "order =" desc "selected =" 22568 "virtual =" pcmark-android-work "type =" single "product_id =" 22568,22128,22214,22192,22162,22138 , 22140,22008,22000,21800,22228,3202,62,22260,22288,22352,22372 "] [/ wptab] [wptab style =" 4 "title =" T-Rex "] [test slug =" gfxbench-fps " order = "desc" selected = "22568" type = "single" virtual = "t-rex-3-onscreen" product_id = "22568,22214,22154,22002,21966,21968,21630,21772,21752,21844,22228 , 22260,22062,22288,22352,22372 "] [/ wptab] [wptab_end] Simple games are not a challenge for this phone, but smartphone fans for gamers have nothing to look for here. Even a relatively small screen resolution does not help. I can positively assess the work culture – even with a longer game in Pokemon Go, the smartphone did not heat up to an unpleasant level. Neffos C7 works under the control of the Android operating system version 7.0 Nougat . Due to its affiliation to the budget price shelf, I would rather not expect an upgrade to Oreo. The date of the last security update update is somewhat disappointing – this is November 2017. Android has been covered with a light NFUI pad that does not interfere much in the "cleanliness" of the system. Several useful solutions have been added, such as a button to close all applications at once. Multimedia software, however, is already a classic from Google. I definitely recommend you to install your own. In the seventh version of the overlay, the manufacturer took care of the management of RAM, although it is a bit too aggressive for my taste. Applications that run in the background are closed three minutes after the screen turns off. It can be annoying but on the other hand has a positive effect on working time away from the socket. TP-Link deserves praise for one more reason. At Neffos C7, you will not find ugly software that often appears in cheap smartphones from China. The overlay is refined and you can see that someone paid a lot of attention to it . We have here the role of Network Bridge, thanks to which the smartphone can be used as a WiFi signal amplifier and the possibility of sharing WiFi via a QR code. An interesting solution is also the Pocket mode, in which the device automatically detects when it is hidden: the screen does not light up at notifications, the connection is also blocked. The glove handling mode also has a positive effect.
Good quality of conversations
Communication facilities can be called a complete – maybe outside NFC. The smartphone is a hybrid Dual-SIM , and on the board LTE (up to 150 Mbps) and dual band WiFi in the 802.11a / b / g / n / ac standard. The set is complemented by Bluetooth version 4.1. The quality of conversations and the issue of coverage were very good. I could clearly hear the interlocutor and the other side had no reason to complain. The sound is clean and the range is good even in places where I had problems every day. TP-Link Neffos C7 is a good choice for users for whom the quality of calls is a priority . Unfortunately, I can not say anything good about the GPS module. He lost himself completely, which can be seen in the picture below. I will add that I was walking along the street all the time. 16 GB is reserved for user data, of which about 11 are available for start. I would definitely recommend having a memory card. The external speaker is one, although two grills at the bottom would suggest the presence of a stereo speaker. It is very average and certainly not suitable for the screening of your favorite series. For this it is much better to put on headphones (you can choose any, thanks to the presence of an audio connector). The quality of sound does not take away, but it also does not disappoint. It's enough to occasionally listen to music. Finally, a few words about the fingerprint reader . It's placed on my back and I'm surprised by its quality. Cheap smartphones have accustomed me to the fact that unlocking often involves repeatedly applying the finger to the scanner. Nothing like this happens here. It is not the fastest and it takes about a second to unlock, but it does even with a wet finger, which I checked during the rain. A big plus for Neffos.
Summary and evaluation
Time for the final evaluation of TP-Link Neffos C7. After a week spent with this device, during which I used it as the main smartphone, I must admit that I liked it , although it is not a device without flaws. Let's summarize briefly the most important pros and cons. The phone is made of good quality plastic, but the fitting of some elements is not the best. The screen is readable even on sunny days, for which Neffos has a big plus. On the minus "only" HD resolution, which not everyone will like. The battery lasts for one day, but it takes about 2 hours. With the camera you will take a good picture during the day, but the camera ahead is below expectations. I can not fault the quality of the calls and the fingerprint reader – both are above average and three times more expensive smartphone would not be ashamed of them.Is it worth buying a TP-Link Neffos C7 for PLN 500? In my opinion it is a sensible smartphone, but it has to be emphasized that it has several serious competitors. The biggest one is … the previous model of the same brand – TP-Link Neffos X1 Max. Currently costs 660 PLN , but in my opinion it is worth paying extra. It towers in everything – it has a better camera, a metal casing and more efficient components. Another example is Xiaomi Redmi 5A, costing currently 500 zlotys in the official Polish distribution. He wins with Neffos C7 in terms of performance, camera and workmanship, but does not have a fingerprint reader, which for many gsmManiaKów will be a decisive argument for or against the purchase.
