Do you think that the phrase "frameless smartphone" is currently being abused? In that case, you'll love the concept smartphone Vivo APEX, shown at MWC 2018 in Barcelona. Its screen occupies as much as 98% of the entire front! Is this what the smartphone of the future looks like?
Presented yesterday Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 + and today's novelties from Sony in the form of Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact are devices that can really please, but let's agree – none of these models introduces to the world of mobile breathtaking innovation technologies. If you lack this type of attraction, then you must familiarize yourself with the Vivo concept smartphone : The Chinese manufacturer brought to the MWC 2018 fair a smartphone Vivo APEX , whose main distinguishing feature is the OLED screen, which occupies as much as 98% of the front . The frame under the display is 4.3 mm wide, the others only 1.8 mm. I suspect that reaching 100% screen-to-body ratio is hardly possible at the current stage of technology development, so Vivo APEX fully deserves to be called a frameless smartphone , and certainly much more than competitors' products. Of course, creating a frameless smartphone forced the manufacturer to make some compromises. One of them you will surely like – the fingerprint reader was placed directly under the screen, which is due to cooperation of Vivo with Synaptics. The same has been done with the vast majority of all sensors. So what about a selfie camera? This can be quickly ejected from the top edge. 3.5 mm jack connector? It is most like, just like a dedicated DAC and sound amplifiers. Speaking of which, the classic speakers were replaced by the Screen SoundCasting technology, thanks to which sound (and good quality) is generated by the screen vibrations. If you are delighted with Vivo APEX, unfortunately I have a bad news. This is just a concept smartphone , being a showcase of the technological capabilities of Vivo. So far, there are no plans to put it into regular sale , at least not in the near future. Producing such a phone is not an easy matter, so Vivo has to work on it a lot. Still, you want to say: Vivo, how you impressed me right now!
