Wiko View Prime has narrow frames, 18: 9 screen, metal casing and a large amount of internal and internal memory. Is it worth buying for a price exceeding PLN 1,000? I invite you to read the Wiko View Prime review.
Wiko noticed that the future of smartphones are narrow frames and decided to undergo this trend. This is how the VIEW series was created, which currently consists of three phones. I got the Wiko View Prime model for testing, the strongest trio. In selected Wiko View Prime stores, is sold for PLN 1149 . Is this an adequate price? Let's check – this is the Wiko View Prime review .
Narrow frame and metal housing
Wiko View Prime has been designed in a fashionable style recently, which is defined by narrow frames around the screen with an aspect ratio of 18: 9 . The model we discuss offers a 5.7-inch display, enclosed in a 152.3 x 72.8 housing. It gives so-called screen-to-body ratio at 75.6%. Maybe this is not a sensational result, but in terms of space development, View Prime equals clearly more expensive Galaxy A8 . Both models are similar, but it's not a bad thing – in the end how many ways can you design a "frameless" smartphone? Relatively narrow frames do not mean in advance, that Wiko View Prime is a small phone. A large screen does its job , but thanks to the new proportions the casing is narrower than the standard one. The device lies well in the foot, although people with smaller hands may have trouble reaching the notification bar with one hand. The manufacturer used metal to make the housing. We find it on the back panel as well as on the sides. It is pleasant to touch and does not give the impression of cheesy. He does, however, sometimes creak out with a good grip, so not all elements have been folded . It is not irritating, but it does not fall out. On the front you will find a glass of an unspecified manufacturer. It gives the impression of a plastic, and in addition it gets dirty very easily. It is comforting that it did not get scratched during the whole test period. The only surprise about the arrangement of individual components is the microUSB port. It is located in a classic place, i.e. in the central part of the bottom frame. I was surprised, however, by the fact that it was placed opposite, the broad side up. Fortunately, no problem, you just have to get used to it. As for the power button and the volume control bar, we will find them on the right side and I have no objections to their work. At the very end of this section I leave important news for a large part of mania – Wiko View Prime has a notification diode , large, clear and clear.
5.7 "screen, but only HD +
As I mentioned before, the Wiko View Prime screen is 5.7 inches and the aspect ratio is 18: 9 . It should be added here that the content is presented on it in HD + resolution , or 1440×720. This gives you an acceptable focus, but nothing more. Full HD would be much better here, unfortunately the manufacturer decided otherwise. [wptab style = "4" title = "Maximum brightness"] [test slug = "screen-battery" virtual = "TEST_JASE_PASS" order = "desc" selected = "22502" type = "single" product_id = "22500,22468, 22354,22488,22478,22464,22352,22502 "] [/ wptab] [wptab style =" 4 "title =" Minimum brightness "] [test slug =" screen-battery "virtual =" TEST_JASNOSC_AKU_MIN "order =" asc " selected = "22502" type = "single" product_id = "22500,22468,22354,22488,22478,22464,22352,22502"] [/ wptab] [wptab_end] In fact, only relatively low resolution deserves criticism, because in others aspects of the IPS display definitely defend themselves. The maximum brightness of 460 cd / m2 provides good visibility in the bright sun , which is additionally supported by the function called Smart Display , which "optimizes" the backlight. Decent brightness is also decent, so after dark it is possible to use Wiko View Prime quite nicely. We especially enjoy very good color reproduction – sRGB palette coverage exceeds 98%, which is definitely above average. The contrast is also correct. After all, it's a pity that we have no control over the colors. There was not even a blue light filter on board. For consolation we get an efficient light sensor and an efficient touch panel. It turns out that if it was not for poor resolution, the Wiko View Prime screen would be really good.
3000 mAh battery
The vast majority of "frameless" smartphones can not boast of a battery with above average capacity and with Wiko View Prime it is very similar. 3000 mAh on the 5.7-inch screen does not promise daring time, as well as the average results in synthetic tests. Do practical observations confirm this? [wptab style = "4" title = "Normal use"] [slug test = "battery" order = "desc" selected = "22502" virtual = "pcmark-work-2" type = "single" product_id = "22500, 22468,22354,22488,22478,22464,22352,22502 "] [/ wptab] [wptab style =" 4 "title =" Games "] [test slug =" battery "order =" desc "selected =" 22502 "virtual = "battery-manhattan-3" type = "single" product_id = "22500,22468,22354,22488,22478,22464,22352,22502"] [/ wptab] [wptab style = "4" title = "Charging time" ] [test slug = "battery" virtual = "loading-ac" order = "asc" selected = "22502" type = "single" product_id = "22500,22468,22354,22488,22478,22464,22352,22502"] [/ wptab] [wptab_end] In practice, the battery allows you to survive from morning to evening , with SoT reaching an average of 4 hours at LTE and 5 hours at Wi-Fi. This scenario applies to the active use of the device for most of the day, ie talking, browsing the web, using instant messaging, sporadic playing, filming and taking photos. Added to this are navigation tests. The results are not so bad, rather average. Up to 130 minutes are required to fully recharge the battery. This means one thing – the Wiko smartphone does not support fast charging .
Snapdragon 430 for PLN 1200?
Snapdragon 430 on a smartphone for PLN 1149 fits like a fist to the eye, and this unit drives the Wiko View Prime. I am surprised that the manufacturer did not reach at least the Snapdragon 435 with a faster LTE modem, which we can find in the much cheaper Wiko WIM Lite. A small change, but always something. Wiko tried to save the situation by adding 4 GB of RAM , but in the benchmarks it did not help much: [wptab style = "4" title = "PC Mark"] [test slug = "pcmark-android" order = "desc" selected = "22502" virtual = "pcmark-android-work" type = "single" product_id = "22500,22468,22354,22488,22478,22464,22352,22502"] [/ wptab] [wptab style = "4" title = "AnTuTu" ] [test slug = "android-antutu-6" order = "desc" selected = "22502" virtual = "antutu-total-6" type = "single" product_id = "22500,22468,22354,22488,22478,22464 , 22352,22502 "] [/ wptab] [wptab style =" 4 "title =" GeekBench Single "] [test slug =" geekbench-4 "order =" desc "selected =" 22502 "virtual =" geekbench-4- Single-Core "type =" single "product_id =" 22500,22468,22354,22488,22478,22464,22352,22502 "] [/ wptab] [wptab style =" 4 "title =" GeekBench Multi "] [slug test = "geekbench-4" order = "desc" selected = "22502" virtual = "geekbench-4-Multi-Core" type = "single" product_id = "22500,22468,22354,22488,22478,22464,22352,22502 "] [/ wptab] [wptab_end] A processor consisting of 8 Cortex-A53 cores up to 1.4 GHz is unable to cope with Snapdragon 625 (Moto G5S Plus) or Kirin 659 (Huawei Mate 10 Lite). Wiko View Prime therefore does not guarantee above-average performance – in fact, in 2018, we can already call it the basic one. There would be nothing wrong with it if the price of the phone was a bit lower, and it's hard not to talk about disappointment . After all, I can not say that Wiko View Prime is a slow phone. Usually everything happens at a decent pace and smoothly. Only occasionally did I have the impression that the system takes the operation entrusted to it for a long time, such as switching between two applications or launching a demanding program. [wptab style = "4" title = "3DMark"] [test slug = "3dmark" order = "desc" selected = "22502" virtual = "3dmark-ice-storm-unlimited-total" type = "single" product_id = "22500,22468,22354,22488,22478,22464,22352,22502"] [/ wptab] [wptab style = "4" title = "T-Rex"] [test slug = "gfxbench-fps" order = "desc "selected =" 22502 "type =" single "virtual =" t-rex-3-onscreen "product_id =" 22500,22468,22354,22488,22478,22464,22352,22502 "] [/ wptab] [wptab style = "4" title = "Manhattan"] [test slug = "gfxbench-fps" order = "desc" selected = "22502" type = "single" virtual = "manhattan-3-onscreen" product_id = "22500,22468,22354 , 22488,22478,22464,22352,22502 "] [/ wptab] [wptab_end] Wiko View Prime performs better in GPU tests. This is due to the relatively low screen resolution, thanks to which this French phone is able to provide performance similar to the Adreno 506 with Snapdragon 625, when it works with Full HD panels. It's true that it's difficult to talk about performance for years, but here and now Wiko View Prime can handle most titles .
Dual SIM and 64 GB of memory
Wiko View Prime is a Dual SIM phone which gives you the possibility to use two numbers without having to resign from expanding the memory (standard slot). There is no count on active mode, so if we use one card, the other is inactive. The quality of the calls is just good and the loudspeaker is loud enough.I've already mentioned memory, so it's time to expand this thread. Tested Wiko supports memory cards up to 128 GB. Plus, it has 64 GB of built-in memory , of which 50.6 GB is available to us. It's really a lot, so the producer deserves praise – after all, the competition in the form of Samsung can give only 16 GB. In addition, we can also help OTG accessories, which are handled sufficiently (except for the disc without power supply). When it comes to connectivity issues, Wiko View Prime has more gaps than falls out. The equipment will not find NFC , Wi-Fi is single-band, and the charging port is an old microUSB. The smartphone supports LTE, but only category 4, with a maximum download of 150Mbps. There were also FM and Bluetooth 4.2 radios. It is comforting that all available modules work without any problems. Included is also GPS (with A-GPS), which did not cause me any problems during navigation, both walking and car. Like most modern smartphones for this money, Wiko View Prime has a fingerprint reader , located on the back panel, just below the camera. It is active, so all you need to do is put your finger on the phone to unlock. The whole process runs smoothly.
Wiko View Prime, reviewed by me, works under the control of Android 7.1.2 Nougat . The manufacturer diversified the clean version of the system with its additions, but naming it with an overlay would be an exaggeration. Elements added by the French are m al .:
- control lamp – controlling the operation of the notification diode,
- the ability to change the order of the on-screen function keys of Android,
- operation optimization – tools for managing applications,
- quick actions – additional functions of the fingerprint reader,
- Smart Action – configuration of such functions as double-clicking on the screen to unlock or blank it or putting the phone to your ear to automatically answer an incoming call,
- Gesture Wizard – drawing letters activates the applications assigned to them,
- scheduled switching on and off the phone,
- decoding field – a secure folder application,
- WiLine – functions for the case with the so-called window,
- Phone help – a cleaner to clean junk files and the overall optimization of your smartphone.
In general, the Wiko View Prime interface can be liked. But why is it so hopelessly translated? A large part of the additions from the manufacturer is signed in English or worse, pseudopolski, from which nothing is understood. Even in Xiaomi there are no such flowers.
Three cameras included
Wiko View Prime has a total of 3 cameras . In most cases, this means that two of them will be on the back panel, but Wiko decided to focus on selfie fans, so the dual camera can be found on the front. Before I deal with it later. First a few words about the camera application. The program prepared by Wiko is simple and transparent. On the left edge (in a horizontal arrangement), the most important switches with modes and settings are displayed. Among them is HDR, also operating automatically. Switching to the selfie camera causes the background blur and beautification option. Among the modes there is a professional who, to full happiness, lacks only longer exposure time. >>> View full resolution pictures A single main camera has 16 MP and light f / 2.0 . With it, you can make a pretty sensible photo with good lighting conditions. However, you have to show patience, hold your hand steadily and wait a few seconds until the phone registers the photo. In addition, focusing is not very efficient. In short – it is not a phone call for people who often photograph moving objects from the hand. All image parameters can be described as satisfactory , but to excellence far away. When we manage to take a sharp photo, we can weigh a lot of recorded details and good color rendering. The tonal range is unsatisfactory. Much worse Wiko View Prime falls out with night shots. Under these conditions, the autofocus works very poorly, making the vast majority of photos blurred. The number of details recorded drastically decreases, and the colors become pale. I am disappointed , especially when I remember the Wiko Wim Lite model, which dealt with such situations clearly better. Meanwhile, on the front we have a dual camera , in the configuration of 20 MP + 8 MP. The main task of the additional lens is to collect depth information, which should allow for a nice blurring of the background in self-portraits. It is possible to "average on a hedgehog", and the main problem is partial smudging of the face. Besides, the self-jets are of good quality and that's it. For admiration, far away, also for dissatisfaction. Video materials Wiko View Prime spins in the maximum Full HD resolution (30fps). As for the phone they are acceptable and if you make films only sporadically, for your own private use, you will not be disappointed. The only real problem is white balance, which sometimes jumps instead of smoothly changing.
Summary and evaluation
The first Wiko smartphone that I had the opportunity to use was Wiko WIM Lite. Maybe it was not a perfect model, but it was definitely successful, and its initial liquidity problems corrected the updates. Now I recommend this device with a pure heart. Can I say the same about Wiko View Lite, and consequently add it to the list of the best "frameless" smartphones? Unfortunately not. Wiko View Prime has exactly the same problem that LG Q6 once had – it is definitely too expensive . The French have apparently found that a screen of 18: 9 surrounded by relatively narrow frames is enough for a smartphone to cost 1149 PLN. I do not share this opinion. It's true that I enjoy 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal memory, but Snapdragon 430 is not enough at this price. I can not say that the smartphone is free, but it could always be faster, even with Snapdragon 625. Another downside is the poor communication facilities , which I have seen more recently. As far as I am able to understand the lack of NFC as such, so the one-band Wi-Fi is actually archaism. The camera does not stand out. In good lighting conditions falls out decently, but very poorly in the evenings or at night. I can say the same about a dual selfie camera that is art for art. Wiko View Prime is not a bad phone . There are basically no such. However, there are telephones that are badly priced and this belongs to this group. If someone is looking for a cheap smartphone with a similar appearance, which will not have a 6-inch screen, he should bet either on a much cheaper LG Q6 , or on the new Honora 9 Lite. The level is similar and the price noticeably lower. Wasted potential – these two words best describe Wiko View Prime.[show_rating]
