Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, Huawei Kirin 970 and Samsung Exynos 9810 – around these three processors next year will be the mobile industry and the most efficient Android devices on board. The mentioned producers turn up the atmosphere associated with the chips and at the same time keep the most important details for themselves. Three layouts, maybe not so much when it comes to choice, but the specifications and capabilities of each of them can actually make you dizzy. Which processor should you put on, if you plan to buy a flagship in 2018? The answer is not so simple.
Architecture and cores
A few years ago, Android was able to support 64-bit processors , which was a big change not only for smartphones, but also for other possibilities related to their daily use and the use of applications. In fact, most designs are based on ARM cores , even if they are simply licensed products and sold under a different name – as is the case with Qualcomm or Samsung. Practically each of the producers is also trying to add to the architecture their own improvements and solutions allowing for competition ahead. Qualcomm Snapdragon 845
Snapdragon 845 is a processor manufactured in the 10 nanometer LPP FinFet process. On board were four main Kryo 385 cores (Cortex-A75) and four auxiliary cores (Cortex-A55) . The former are clocked at 2.8 Ghz, while the rest are slightly slower: at 1.7 Ghz. The Adreno 630 layout is responsible for displaying graphics in the Americans' chip . Samsung Exynos 9810
The Exynos 9810 processor is very similar to Snapdragon 845, but it differs from it several things. Samsung produces its system in an identical technological process of 10 nanometers LPF FinFet. The Mali-G72 system is responsible for displaying the graphics, and the speed is to be provided by four original Moongoose cores (we do not know their timing yet) and four Cortex-A53 cores . Exynos 9810 fully supports fast LPDDR4x RAM. In this case, nothing changes.
Huawei Kirin 970
The Kirin 970 is slightly different from the competition in terms of the technological process. Huawei's original system is produced in the 10 nm FinFet process, which is an older technology than the one used in the two processors described above. However, it is not bad in terms of performance. For the power of Kirin 970, there are four 2.4 GHz Cortex-A73 cores and four GHz Cortex-A53 cores at 1.8 GHz . The graphic displays the layout of Mali-G71 MP12. Similarly to the competition, the Huawei processor also supports LPDDR4x RAM. At first glance, Kirin 970 "on paper" stands out from Samsung and Qualcomm. Nothing more misleading, because the Chinese have an advantage in their sleeve, which they boast for a long time. It is artificial intelligence.
Artificial intelligence in processors
AI is the future: we all know about it, whether we like it or not. Intelligent assistants appear at every step, and manufacturers strive for maximum automation of tasks and improvement of our everyday use of smartphones. How does Snapdragon 845, Exynos 9810 and Kirin 970 handle it? At first glance, it is the Huawei Kirin 970 that has the advantage over the competition. The Chinese have developed their own processor so that it fully supports machine learning and was able to maintain a good energy-saving ratio during operation. Huawei was a leader … by the time. Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 is supposed to work on artificial intelligence about 3x faster than Kirin 970 . Of course, you will have to wait for the first tests, but Qualcomm is already boasting of its solutions.Unfortunately, the last manufacturer, Samsung did not share any details of Exynos 9810 in the context of artificial intelligence. Koreans have indeed their technologies improving even the image processing or learning assistant Bixby, but for now the giant … just silent. Unfortunately, it's hard to say which processor from the three mentioned above will be the best for artificial intelligence. Multimedia and connectivity
Both Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, Samsung Exynos 9810 and Huawei Kirin 970 offer support for LTE Cat 18 connectivity , which means data transfer at speeds of 1.2 GB / s – of course, depending on the operator and infrastructure. Each of the systems also supports playback and recording of files in 4K resolution – processors, however, allow for a smaller or larger frame . Samsung offers video in 120 frames per second, Qualcomm in 60 frames, and Kirin 970 in classic, 30 frames per second. In terms of sound quality, there is nothing to complain about. Which processor should you choose?
This is a question that currently has no unambiguous answer . While each of the systems has a really specific and solid power, it depends only on the software and the manufacturer how he decides to use its capabilities. Native processor power is one thing, and its actual use in everyday use of a smartphone, the latter. One thing is certain: 2018 promises to be really intriguing on flagship smartphones. Probably both Samsung, Huawei, and other manufacturers using Snapdragon 845 will compete to present us original features and solutions in the field of connectivity, taking pictures or fast charging. In fact, we have to wait until we can put equipment with Exynos 9810, Kirin 970 and Snapdragon 845 next to each other. Then also the defects and advantages of each processor will come out. Personally, I would be inclined towards Snapdragon 845. In the second place I would invest in Exynos 9810, and finally in Kirina 970 from Huawei. However, how many people, so many opinions and needs. Unfortunately, but we've come to the point where benchmarks and synthetic tests will not give any answer to which product is really better.
