Acquisition of Shazam by Apple is now official. The Cupertino company has spent $ 400 million on the music recognition service. The question remains: why Apple Shazam?
Gossip about the takeover of Shazam by Apple Alexander commented a few days ago. My redaction colleague has not made a mistake and today Apple has issued a statement in which the company from Cupertino informs about the purchase of a music recognition application. What does this mean for its users? The acquisition does not concern only the rights to the application itself, but also the entire team behind its purchase and development. On the Apple side, we can read about the fact that Apple Music and Shazam are natural partners created for themselves. It probably means that the application will be one of the functions of the streaming service (you hear a nice song – you ask Siri "what is this song?" – here the Shazam algorithms work and we are transferred to the searched song), and will not remain a separate application. For his part, Shazam assures that he intends to continue in his mission of providing clients with the best quality of music services, but I think that this is just a mock assurance and I'm afraid that one of the most recognizable applications in the world will end up as one of many functions of the Siri voice assistant . Which means that for Poland it will continue to be another curiosity that is bypassed by our country because of the language barrier. It is a pity. I am also curious about what the Shazam version of Android is about. Apart from it, the application still exists on iOS and macOS, and the Windows version has been retired some time ago. Will there still be a place for her in the store with the biggest rival's apps after the takeover? Time will tell. The acquisition alone cost Apple 400 million green, which definitely shows that the company has plans for the team that created Shazam. Source: gsmarena
