Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus are officially presented. Xiaomi showed the world two new, cheap smartphones with a decent specification, which were equipped with 18: 9 narrow-film screens. We know the prices of individual Redmi 5 variants. Something seems to me that it will be a sales hit.
Xiaomi has expanded the portfolio of Redmi smartphones by two new models. Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus are solidly equipped and cheap telephones that are the answer to current trends related to narrow-form design and 18: 9 screens.
Screen 18: 9 and narrow-cornered design
The main distinguishing elements of Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus are screens. The basic model was equipped with a 5.7-inch IPS panel displaying content at 1440×720 with 18: 9 aspect ratio. In Redmi 5 Plus we find a tad bigger, almost 6-inch IPS Full HD + matrix (2160×1080), also with 18: 9 aspect ratio.Mounting new displays has motivated Xiaomi to reduce frames around them. Thanks to this, both phones are slightly smaller than models with screens of similar diagonal. However, it is impossible not to notice that the Xiaomi novelties are not as frameless as the flag ones, but at this price it is quite understandable.
Snapdragon 450 and Snapdragon 625
Xiaomi rather conservatively chose the central units for their novelties. The Xiaomi Redmi 5 got an 8 – core Snapdragon 450 clocked at 1.8 GHz, and the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is powered by a Snapdragon 625 clocked up to 2 GHz. These systems cooperate with the Adreno 506 graphics and were made in a 14nm process. I realize that many of you are tired of these units (especially SD625), but it's really smart processors for smartphones for a pair of stools. Competition often reaches for noticeably weaker layouts.
Prices and variants
The prices of individual variants are as follows:
- Xiaomi Redmi 5 2GB / 16GB – 799 yuan (about PLN 430 net),
- Xiaomi Redmi 5 3GB / 32GB – 899 yuan (about PLN 485 net),
- Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus 3GB / 32GB – 999 yuan (about PLN 540 net),
- Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus 4GB / 64GB – 1299 yuan (about 700 PLN net).
Sales of smartphones in China will start on December 12. It is not known when Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus will go to Poland, but it is probably a matter of a few weeks, up a few months. Of course, we do not know Polish prices yet. In each sales set you will find a dedicated case, which is a nice gesture from the manufacturer.
