By 3/4, Samsung usually sells the most smartphones, but the last quarter is often Apple, which either makes up for losses, or even surpasses its rival. The TrendForce report suggests which manufacturers should win the battle in the fourth quarter of 2017. And what smartphone you buy?
Samsung is the largest smartphone manufacturer in the world on a yearly basis, but it does not mean that Koreans sell the most smartphones in every possible period. Samsung often loses its lead in the last quarter of every year, when it is up to Apple to make a comeback with its newcomers, or equal (2015) or overtake (2016) its biggest rival. As it will be in this quarter, we will only know in a few months, but TrendForce already gives us his favorite.TrendForce analyst firm says that in the fourth quarter of 2017 Apple will sell more smartphones than Samsung . Americans are expected to deliver 81 million copies in the period, giving 19.1% of global sales, while the Koreans are "only" 77 million, capturing 18.2% of the market. Of course, this is just an analysis that does not need to find confirmation in reality, but in my opinion such a scenario is very likely . Today, the iPhone is the most popular Christmas gift in the smartphone segment, and there is no indication that it will change this year. Also note two other TrendForce predictions. First, as much as 33% of Apple's quarterly sales are expected to have the iPhone X model , so if the report's assumptions are correct, this jubilee model will find as many as 26.7 million owners in the last 2017. This means that only this one phone is selling almost as well as the most popular three quarter of last quarter. The second case concerns the total sale. In the last three months of this year, the smartphone market will grow 6.3% year-on-year, and we will buy 425 million units in 2017. Source: TrendForce
