IDC has released wearables data for the second quarter of 2017. It follows that the smartwatch market is doing well. During this period, only one watch was reigned.
According to IDC, in the second quarter of 2017, Apple sold about 3.4 million Apple Watches . Second place went to Samsung, who sold 0.8 million copies. These numbers clearly show the gap between the two companies. In the third place, Garmin with 0.6m sold wearables came close to Samsung. Between April and June this year, 6.9 million pieces of equipment worn on the wrist were sold worldwide. Apple Watch was the most popular smartwatch in this period. Market share was 49.6%, in other words, half of all wearables sold . Interestingly, the data from another analytical firm – Strategy Analytics – in the second quarter sold 2.8 million smartwatch Apple, or 0.6 million fewer copies. It is worth remembering about such discrepancies in the data, although it does not change the fact that the Cupertino group was unrivaled in the wearables market.IDC statistics are so valuable that Apple never boasts accurate data about the number of Apple Watches sold. It is listed in one of the "other products" bags, including AirPods, Beats, Apple TV, iPods and accessories. Source: MacRumors
