Sony has recently decided to reduce its smartphone portfolio. The Xperia X and Xperia X Compaxt are not looking for successors. Does this mean the end of the Compact series and the powerful blow for the maxi mini-fans in mini casing?
Xperia X is one of the latest lines of smartphones Sony, which the Japanese presented at last year's MWC in Barcelona. In the assumption, these were high-end phones, offering solutions known from the flagship, and the manufacturer called them premium smartphones, which emphasized their relatively high price. The idea did not work out, and the whole project was just in the trash.Sony officially announced that it is ending with the Xperia X smartphone line , so the Xperia X and Xperia X Compact will not see the successors. The manufacturer wants to focus on Xperia XZ Premium flagships this year (there will be two more) and mid-range devices such as the Xperia XA1 and Xperia XA1 Ultra. The reason for this is simple – poor sales . It turns out that while Japan achieved sales of 85%, so globally this figure was only 31%. I do not think many people are crying after the Xperia X but dropping out of the Xperia X Compact can be a disturbing signal , especially for all maxi fans in mini casing. We do not know what the future is ahead of the Compact series. There are two solutions – either complete liquidation or a return to the old strategy and the creation of a full fledged flag in a compact housing. Now the decision is only for Sony and it is hoped that one of the most powerful phones with screens below 5 inches will not disappear from the market. Source: XperiaBlog
